The idea is to scale to about 120 countries at the end of the year. I’m Canadian. I travel the world and have a team of about 30 employees.

TikTok's ByteDance seems to be putting eggs in too many baskets to protect itself from any market risk or changing trends. After the massive success of TikTok, especially in India, the company is reportedly looking to launch new apps and expand into ecommerce, games and other areas.

With this, the company is trying to compete against tech giants globally. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Beijing-based company has launched a financial-services app and has acquired game developers in China, among other moves.

B2C trends are bleeding into the B2B space and forcing corporate sellers to become digitally savvy — and fast.

Corporate buyers are also consumers, meaning they are accustomed to eCommerce's ease and now expect the same conveniences at work. The trend is unlikely to abate as younger generations gain greater influence in corporate buying.

Forty-four percent of 200 millennials surveyed last year stated they were wholly responsible for making purchasing decisions at the B2B companies at which they worked, and an additional 33 percent played some role in this process. The survey also found that 55 percent of millennial B2B buyers cited good digital purchasing experiences as very important influences when deciding which vendors to use, even if they were equivalent in terms of cost, quality and other factors.

Canadian E-Commerce Giant Shopify Joins Libra Association

E-commerce giant Shopify has joined the Libra Association, a network of founding members supporting Facebook's stablecoin project Libra .

Shopify, a major Canada-based digital commerce platform hosting more than one million merchants, will be collaborating on the establishment of a global payment network within the Libra Association, the firm officially announced on Feb. 21.

Bouncing back: CDF Mall posts record daily ecommerce sales in

CHINA. The China Duty Free Group-run Sanya International Duty Free City (CDF Mall) has celebrated its reopening with record daily ecommerce sales of more than CNY44.28 million (US$6.3 million).

As reported , China Duty Free Group (CDFG) reopened its main duty free stores on Hainan Island, including the flagship CDF Mall in Sanya, on 20 February. The stores had been closed since 27 January due to the COVID-19 crisis.
