UPDATE: A Dalton boutique known for stitching children’s clothes had to put their own pieces together after a truck crashed into their storefront in September.
After nearly six months, the racks are full of clothing and the shelves are stocked at Creative Sewing Children’s Boutique at 100 West Walnut Ave.
Just two days before the store was expected to move to a new location, an SUV slammed through the front doors and destroyed merchandise, equipment, and thousands of dollars in inventory.
Quite a lot has been going on:
Brookline’s storefront vacancies climb as town considers how to help Coolidge Corner
The town’s storefront vacancy rate continued to climb last year, jumping to about 10 percent from 2018’s 9.6 percent. But it’s not as bad as it sounds, according to Economic Development & Long-Term Planner Meredith Mooney.
In a Jan. 28 presentation to the Select Board, Mooney shared Brookline’s vacancy rate and slight uptick are in line with regional trends and the town’s commercial districts aren’t any worse for wear.
Pueblo 7-11 closed after van crashes into storefront - KRDO
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - A 7-11 is closed in Pueblo, after a van crashes into the front of the store.
Pueblo Police were called to the location on the 900 block of W. Northern Ave., just after 12:40 a.m. Friday. Officers say a van pulled up, and when the driver pressed the brake it kept going. The van then drove over the parking bumper, on to the sidewalk, and then into the front of the store.
La Casita Bakeshop Will Open a Storefront in February - D Magazine
If I could make a crystal-ball prediction, it's that you'll have a new hangout on Saturday mornings, starting February 8. The spot is La Casita Bakeshop at 580 West Arapaho Road in Richardson, off U.S. 75, a new storefront that shares a strip with a pupuseria. The reason? Bread and sweets. The timeframe? Saturdays—and that's it.
La Casita Bakeshop isn't a new name in baked goods. Maricsa Trejo, the woman behind the bakery, has been mastering insanely finicky laminated doughs for a good while. While her prolific pop-ups have spanned the city, this new proper bakeshop will be some place Trejo can directly engage with her pastry-adoring followers. "[It feels like] I'm in 8th grade. I'm just gonna talk to people," she says of being a public face. "It feels less like stage fright."

The old standard Broadway Chelsea awning above Cuscatlán Restaurant was a beacon of mixed message for decades in the Broadway business district.
There was nothing wrong with the look, or the restaurant, but it didn't scream out to be new, exciting and fun.
Rebranded as 'Rodeo' and now with a brand-new storefront, the Chelsea Square restaurant has turned over a new leaf and has found great momentum that they hope carries over into the rest of the district.
Olio out, Sub-Conscious in at Fan storefront - Richmond BizSense
A Fan sandwich shop is on the move again, and a new restaurant is set to take over its spot on West Cary Street.
Olio is leaving its space at 2028 W. Cary St. in favor of moving all of its operations to its West End location at 8903 Three Chopt Road.
The storefront won't sit vacant though, as Randy Walter is set to take over Olio's lease and equipment as he prepares to open Sub-Conscious Cafe.
Olio, which offers hot sandwiches and salads as well as catering, moved into the Cary Street space in 2017 , a year after being sold to Todd Butler and Chad Thompson. It previously had a location at 2001 ½ W. Main St., now occupied by Branch & Vine.
Berkeley to allow vaping lounges where patrons can consume cannabis — Berkeleyside
Smoking, vaping and consuming cannabis will once again be allowed in the city's dispensaries, the Berkeley City Council decided Tuesday.
The council voted unanimously to permit cannabis lounges in storefront retailers (previously referred to as dispensaries) after dozens of people spoke in favor of a practice that was once legal but became prohibited after Berkeley enacted stronger smoking laws.
Councilmembers talked about how cannabis lounges would allow people who are banned from smoking in their apartments or workplaces to have a spot where they could consume marijuana, and how the lounges would create community.
