Retail and eCommerce highlights this week includes SAS's investment in Research and Development in Scotland. Details of enVista's 2020 Personalisation Report, Salesforce's purchase of Vlocity and Marketo announces updates to its platform.

SAS has confirmed further expansion of its Research & Development (R&D) Centre based in Glasgow . The company doubled the size of its Scotland R&D centre since its inception in 2014 to around 100 employees. SAS will now expand it by a further 20 per cent in 2020. It is investing in a team of highly skilled data scientists to focus on technology development.

Walmart reportedly names new COO of e-commerce | Retail Dive

Iannone's promotion is the latest move in a broad reorganization of Walmart's e-commerce operations, which have made progress in recent years but not without hiccups and reported internal tensions.

Most recently, the company told employees that it was merging its digital and in-store buying teams after years of siloed operations. To lead the integration, t he company appointed Chandra Holt, formerly COO of Sam's Club. She will serve as chief merchandising and integration officer for Walmart e-commerce, reporting to recently installed Chief Merchandising Officer Scott McCall.

Kingfisher appoints Sue Harries as group ecommerce director - Retail Gazette

Harries joins from Screwfix, which is owned by Kingfisher, where she has served for 15 years, most recently as ecommerce director, where she is credited for being integral to the growth of its digital proposition.

During her time at Screwfix, online sales increased by 80 per cent and over a third of all Screwfix sales are now transacted online.

In her new role, a key part of her responsibilities will be to significantly drive ecommerce sales across the Kingfisher Group.
