After 25 years, Hampden Junque closes its storefront and becomes a virtual shop

Michal Makarovich was one of the last merchants in Baltimore who regularly put elaborate displays in the front window of his store, but now he says those days are over.

Makarovich and associate Adrian Monaco created the final window display this week to signal that their business, Hampden Junque, is closing its physical storefront permanently and becoming an online shop.

The window contains a figure of Pee-wee Herman, the fictional character, all by himself, with none of the quirky merchandise from the store that usually surrounds him.

Detroit-based Andonix Launches Online Storefront to Bring PPE to Frontline Workers - DBusiness

Andonix in Detroit has opened its virtual Safely Pass Storefront, an online store offering personal protective equipment to front-line workers.

It is designed to make the equipment accessible and affordable to companies that employ front-line workers. The offering comes on the heels of the company's free wellness monitoring application, Safely Pass.

As states begin to reopen and employees are returning to work, employers are prioritizing the health and safety of their staff to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The store front provides access to PPE such as three-ply facemasks, face shields, and KN95 masks at wholesale prices.

DoorDash Will Help Eateries Create Online Sites | PYMNTS.com

To let eateries create their own websites for ordering so they won’t need to pay marketing fees, DoorDash will reportedly announce a new service on Thursday (May 28). Chief Operating Officer Christopher Payne said restaurants will not need to pay most charges for the DoorDash Storefront offering up to the conclusion of 2020, which gives relief to a struggling vertical, Reuters reported.

Standard charges for the offering will begin in 2021, with the inclusion of setup, credit card processing, delivery and monthly software charges. Payne did not tell the newswire the precise cost of the offering. As it stands, approximately four in 10 of the eateries working with the platform lack a website that enables transactions and ordering.
