America's shopping malls are beginning to reopen -- but you'll have to follow some new

Only two customers at a time at a Vitamin World in San Antonio. No shoe-sizing services at a Skechers in Gulfport, Miss. Mandatory hand sanitizer, spritzed on by a mask-wearing doorman, at a Louis Vuitton in Houston.

"It wasn't that different from a typical shopping experience," said Peyton Burrows, 24, who went to the upscale Houston Galleria in search of a designer handbag and, like countless others, some measure of normalcy.

Best Mother's Day gift sales and May sales to shop for in 2020

Ramhold told NBC News she's seeing heftier discounts online, now that in-store buying has drastically decreased . "I've noticed everyday it seems like they're having sales — and I have noticed, at least anecdotally, that some of the discounts are better," she added.

Another reason she recommends online buying is due to decreased in-store inventory . "No matter what you're shopping for, don't assume you're going to be able to find something." Here are some of the best large sales from popular retailers.

Outside of Orleans, restrictions ease on restaurants and malls | wwltv.com

NEW ORLEANS — We're slowly bridging the gap between "to-go" and "together". Most of Louisiana, although still under lockdown, is enjoying some new freedoms.

Restaurants outside of Orleans Parish are now permitted to provide outdoor seating for take-out, and malls began curbside retail pickup today.

At Lakeside Mall, drivers are sorted into zones in different parking lots. Shoppers can now pick up food or retail items without leaving their driver's seat.

Grocery shopping during COVID-19 | News | morganton.com

Today, grocery trips require a new set of rules and regulations that I’ve been trying to get into the habit of doing, beginning with an exasperated “yes” to my husband’s question, “Did you remember to wash your hands,” as I step onto the porch with car keys in hand. We’ve all heard this particular tip 1,000 times to wash our hands thoroughly with hot water and soap for 20 seconds, especially if you’re going to the market.

Because grocery stores are at their cleanest and most stocked at the start of the day, many stores have started opening senior-only hours of shopping in the first hour that they're open. That's 7 a.m. It's a swell gesture except it doesn't really entice me to get up an hour early, fully dressed and masked, to search once again for toilet paper. Not yet, anyway, because we're lucky enough to still have a couple of rolls. Time will tell.

Best Buy tests online shopping alternative: appointment shopping

The days of walking into a Best Buy on a whim are over — at least for now. As the retailer prepares to reopen some of its locations, shoppers will be asked to make an appointment to ensure each store doesn't become too crowded.

"Customers will be able to schedule appointments with Blue Shirts or Agents for their tech essential needs. Since each customer's appointment will have a dedicated sales associate, there will be a limited number of customers in the store at any one time to ensure appropriate social distancing takes place," Best Buy said in a blog post .
