Brookline launches storefront sign program to support small businesses - News - Brookline TAB -

The Town of Brookline – in partnership with the Brookline business community – is launching a coordinated storefront sign program and #ShopBrookline social media campaign to brighten Brookline storefronts and to convey how the Brookline community can support its small businesses during this difficult time. Signs will be available to businesses as of May 13th and distributed by Brookline’s Economic Development Division staff.

This idea was the brainchild of Lucia Berman-Rossi, owner of Tiny Hanger in Coolidge Corner, and grew out of a series of virtual town hall meetings for Brookline businesses impacted by COVID-19. Brookline’s Small Business Development Committee has hosted these weekly virtual town hall meetings since mid-March.

SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo sausage business is getting a storefront after being in business for nearly 40 years.

Once the two were married, they would make the sausage and give it away until people told them they needed to sell it since it was too good to just give away.

"We decided we would try to see how it goes," Candi said. "When we started, my boys were just selling the sausage out of ice chests on the corner."

Neighbors lament 'tragic' decline of historic Old Cloverdale retail space

Fast forward to 2012 and she was the shop manager of Seville Salon located in the same storefront Fronduti's used to operate, a strip of retail in the heart of the community.

She's spent a lot of time there and built a lot of memories at 1030 Fairview Avenue and the surrounding businesses. It was thriving.

But Powell hasn't cut hair in the Fairview storefront since February 2018, when she was told the building would undergo renovations which could not be done while it was occupied.

Some Bay Area businesses confused amid coronavirus reopening - Los Angeles Times

Jason Tripp owns a distillery in this once-surfer-friendly town in San Mateo County. Since mid-March, he'd been selling craft vodka, gin and rum, as well as a commodity in high demand — hand sanitizer — to local patrons from his storefront.

"Why is it OK to go into a store and buy alcohol, but not OK to stay outside and buy from a storefront?" he said Wednesday, speaking from inside his store.

"I think we'll hold off answering any specifics about the new order until it's announced later this week," said Preston Merchant, county spokesman.

After closing State Street storefront, Plum Goods planning transition to next chapter - KEYT |

The store sold jewelry, art, books, clothing and other gifts. For several years in a row, the Santa Barbara Independent recognized the store as the best gift shop in Santa Barbara.

Owner Amy Cooper and creative director Fabian Ojeda first announced the news on Instagram , saying they are creating a new Plum Goods website to "support and celebrate our favorite artists and bring you things you love to give."

"We really feel like we set out to create an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience, and we did that," Cooper said. "There wasn't that existing already [downtown]: a fair-trade, handmade store… So I thought, 'this is the perfect way to combine what I love and care about, which is beautiful goods made with integrity, in a market where it's missing that.'"

Local artists connect U-District community through storefront murals | Arts And Leisure |

A panel of human rights professionals discussed business accountability and impacts during the COVID-19 pandemic in a webinar May 11 hosted by the School of Law.

On Tuesday, Washington football head coach Jimmy Lake spoke to the national media in a webinar along with Utah's Kyle Whittingham and Colorado's Karl Dorrell to discuss the current state of affairs in the Pac-12 conference.

Ricchiuto reached out to the UHeights Center and began working with its Artist Collective for the project as a way to give local artists an opportunity to display their work. The U District Partnership also provided compensation to the artists based on the size of the pieces they completed.
