But after Governor Andrew Cuomo gave the go-ahead, some owners expressed happiness and excitement to see people get back through their store doors.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The closing of a Mexican restaurant that's been in Topeka over three decades came a day early, as the news had customers filing in to eat one last time.
Carlos O'Kelly's District Manager, Darren Schumacher, said Saturday was supposed to be the restaurants last day.
After news broke on Thursday that Carlos O'Kelly's in Topeka was closing its doors permanently, Schumacher said they had a rush of customers.

Gina Ferwerda was in the process of putting safety precautions in order for her apparel and equipment store, Wet Head Beach Shop, when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced she was lifting the stay-at-home mandate last week, giving retailers the green light to open their doors to foot traffic Thursday.
Following Whitmer's announcement, Ferwerda's phone immediately began ringing off the hook with customers inquiring about her opening date, which is June 12. She said this is an encouraging sign for her Silver Lake store, which relies on tourism from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Utilities Extend Shutoff Protections Through Mid June To Help Struggling Customers - MITechNews
LANSING – Michigan's regulated utilities have agreed to extend through mid-June the shutoff protections, flexible payment plans and other options they've offered to help customers struggling to pay utility bills because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Utilities including the state's two largest, Consumers Energy and DTE Energy, have extended protections for vulnerable customers through June 12, 2020, following Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's extension of her Stay Safer at Home order through that date. Filings with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) were made by utilities this week in Case No. U-20757 to extend these protections and provide more certainty for customers.

With Gov. Charlie Baker on Saturday announcing that Phase 2 of the state's four-phase reopening plan can begin Monday, people will be able to go back inside retail shops.
Retail stores will have to open with restrictions, as well as other health and safety protocols. Previously, retailers were able to offer curbside pickup services.
Stores can open again at 40% of maximum permitted occupancy, or at 8 people (including staff) per 1,000 square feet, per the state's protocols.
