Massachusetts restaurants, retail shops, child care facilities and hotels got the green light Saturday to emerge from their government-induced slumbers beginning on Monday, though every business that reopens will have to follow mandatory safety regulations and industry-specific guidelines for keeping workers and customers safe as the highly-contagious coronavirus continues to circulate.

On Thursday, traffic at the Outlets was slow. But, there were a few shoppers exploring what stores were open.
"Please be patient as only select stores are open for in-store shopping at this time," outlets management posted on social media last week. "Stores will open gradually out of an abundance of caution for our community's safety."

Gov. Charlie Baker announced this weekend that June 8 would begin step one of phase two, dubbed "cautious," of the reopening plan. Step one, which began Monday, includes opening of retail stores, childcare, day camps, lodging such as hotels and inns, youth sports, and outdoor seated dining at restaurants.

Retail stores are only allowed eight people, including staff, per 1,000 square feet of indoor space and up to 40 percent of the store's maximum occupancy. Stores must ensure separation of six feet or more between individuals where possible, fitting rooms must be closed, and customers are not allowed to try on clothes.

Amazon Stock Rallies After Analysts Predict a Lasting Pivot to Online Shopping -
Amazon shares were climbing Monday morning, getting a boost from a pair of bullish analyst notes.
Amazon stock (ticker: AMZN) has rallied more than 35% year to date. In part, the rally represents growing investor enthusiasm about the prospects for Amazon Web Services, on the theory that an increase in people working remotely will act as an accelerant for cloud computing.
But the two analyst notes out Monday focused on the benefits to Amazon's core e-commerce business, because of the accelerated consumer adoption of online shopping as retail stores remain closed or operating in a limited capacity in most of the country.
