AVONDALE — Experimental theater company Prop Thtr is closing its storefront due to the coronavirus pandemic after 15 years in Avondale.
Prop, which announced the news July 18, will move out of 3502 N. Elston Ave. at the end of September but will continue to produce new work, host festivals and workshops and collaborate with other theaters and community spaces to keep its mission of creating radically political, diverse and inclusive devised work and reimagined play adaptations.

After operating online for five months, Courtney Murley decided to secure a storefront for Hot Mess Mama Boutique in February of 2019. She leased space at Avenue 54 and managed to open her doors for one day before the pandemic made its presence felt.
"We were literally open for one day before we were shut down," she said. "It's unfortunate because we were brand new and received no help."
The store managed to stay afloat by continuing to increase their online sales and social media presence.

JOLIET, IL — The Chicago Jackson Currency Exchange has filed a civil lawsuit in Will County against three Joliet entities accused of being in violation of Illinois law by advertising "Check Cashing" at the Boost Mobile store, 1399 Plainfield Road, a store at 1350 W. Jefferson St. and a third business storefront on Joliet's east side, at 321 Collins St.
The lawsuit names as co-defendants: Plaza Robles, D Mobile Communications and GPM Communications. The plaintiff operates a currency exchange licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial Professional Regulation, in downtown Joliet at 360 N. Chicago St.

CLEVELAND — A brewery in Cleveland is hoping someone might know the person responsible for throwing a rock through their window Sunday morning and turn him into local authorities.
Saucy Brew Works, located at 2885 Detroit Avenue, said that on Sunday morning, a man threw a large rock at the storefront window, shattering it before he left the scene.
The brewery approached the situation with a bit of humor, saying the man was working on his arm "in the spirit of baseball season" and "threw a strike" after deciding the store "could use another take out window."

(Meredith) -- Police in Miami Beach, Florida, are investigating after a man was caught on camera allegedly smearing blood on the front of stores.
According to Local 10 News , surveillance footage shows a man walking up to the front of an Ace Hardware store and rubbing the blood from a cut on his arm and hand on the store's glass window.
