OnWashington Launches Storefront Artist Showcase in SoNo

South Norwalk, CT: Art OnWashington kicked off on July 1 with the installation of multimedia works by 12 Connecticut artists, lining Washington Street Historic District storefronts with an eclectic collection of thought-provoking art. Spearheaded by OnWashington, the marketing arm for local real estate collective AGW SoNo Partners, Art OnWashington is a curated show produced by Artist Sooo-z Mastropietro.

The summer series of revolving art utilizes the blank canvases of open storefronts and large windows that are part of AGW's 25-address SoNo portfolio of restaurant, retail, and creative spaces.

After decades of empty storefronts, a Kenosha street is having a rebirth | Local News |

Crews are at work on the final phases of redevelopment of the Barden's building, a former department store on the northeast corner of 58th Street and 7th Avenue. The building is scheduled to open in late August as the new home for Public Craft Brewing Co. and for a new event space, Upper East, by Circa on Seventh operators Culinary Infusion.

Wood frames on the original 1909 windows on the second floor of Barden's had to be refinished, and an exterior brick wall repaired and tuckpointed.

In SoHo, Artists Turn Boarded-up Storefronts Into Canvases

SoHo has been a ghost town for weeks, as wealthy residents fled amid the coronavirus pandemic. Storefronts have been boarded up, and if it wasn’t for the still visible Chanel and Prada signs, the eerily quiet streets could make visitors think they’d time traveled to the '70s.

Companies treated the plywood frantically installed over their windows as armor — protection for their property during the uprisings against police brutality and anti-Black racism. Artists turned these surfaces into canvases, transforming the eery, beige-lined doorways into an open air gallery for landscapes, portraits, and text. For the first time in decades, Soho is teeming with art.

STANTONSBURG — A few cans of paint and some creative woodworking have reignited interest in the restoration of two historic store facades.

The project has been underway since 2018 when the Stantonsburg Board of Commissioners spent $90,000 to re-support the century-old brick frontage of the W.H. Applewhite & Co. general store and an adjacent structure with steel to prevent the wind from blowing it down.

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — Carmelo Parasiliti’s goal for Green Acres Organic Pharms is to provide quality CBD products for the public at the lowest possible cost.

The unique part of his operation is that he is using Alabama-grown hemp to make the products in the Shoals.

He said most stores that sell CBD oil and other products purchase them from a wholesaler to sell in their shops.

“We are an industrial help processing company,” the 29-year-old Parasiliti said. “We started the company in September 2019 and got our industrial hemp license in February.”
