Tennessee Launches “Face It” Ad Campaign to Promote Masks - Rutherford Source

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the State will launch a public service announcement campaign that urges all Tennesseans to fight against the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask. The ad campaign, titled "Face It. Masks Fight COVID-19", will run on broadcast and cable television, digital, social media, print, and billboards statewide.

Watch Colbert remake a fear-mongering Trump campaign ad with nothing but 'Home Alone' footage |

On Wednesday night's "The Late Show" (or "A Late Show," as it's been styled in its pandemic-era WFH incarnation) on CBS, Stephen Colbert deconstructed a current fear-mongering campaign ad from President Trump—and then served up an instant remake of the commercial using nothing but "Home Alone" footage.

The moment came as a part of the show's opening monologue. (The video below is set to play just as Colbert introduces the Trump ad, but you can manually skip ahead to the 9:33 mark if the video doesn't start at the right spot.) In the Trump ad, which Colbert plays in full, an elderly woman is shown watching TV alone when she hears a man trying to break into her house.

City plans to continue statewide tourism campaign despite rollback in reopening - Indianapolis

Mayor Joe Hogsett said Thursday that the city will press forward with its $1 million effort to bring in-state visitors to Indianapolis, even as it takes a step backward in reopening efforts due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

The city, in partnership with Visit Indy, launched the "You've Earned It" advertising campaign July 7, with hopes of boosting the city's badly bruised tourism industry .

Hogsett said the city "may backload the money" associated with the campaign in order take advantage of opportunities that occur in the weeks and months ahead, but remains committed to bringing in visitors.

This photograph was taken by photographer Mstyslav Chernov in February 2014 during a protest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The image is available via Wikipedia under a " Creative Commons " license. The terms for this photograph state that it is free to use — as long as the photographer is given proper credit. But the advertisement on Trump's Facebook page offered no mention of the photographer.

Chernov confirmed to Business Insider that the Trump ad did indeed use his photograph from Ukraine in 2014. Chernov went on to say that the only way to combat this sort of deception is through "education and media literacy."

Trump campaign ad criticized as misleading over photo of protesters taken in Ukraine | TheHill

Photojournalist Mstyslav Chernov confirmed to Business Insider that the photo included in the ad was taken in Kyiv in 2014. The picture, which is available on Wikimedia Commons — Wikipedia's public-domain media archive — has a Creative Commons 3.0 license, meaning anyone can use it if the photographer is credited. The ad did not credit the photographer.

"Photography has always been used to manipulate public opinion. And with the rise of social media and the rise of populism, this is happening even more," Chernov told Business Insider. "The only way to combat this is through education and media literacy. When people learn to independently distinguish truth from lies, then the number of manipulations will decrease."

New York launches ad campaign to get 20-somethings to social distance | NCPR News

Jul 24, 2020 — Governor Andrew Cuomo again says 20-somethings are a threat to New York’s low coronavirus rate, compared to the rest of the country. At a briefing yesterday, Cuomo said almost 30 people got the virus at a single party in the Albany area.

Cuomo said the rate of positive tests among 21 to 30-year-olds jumped from 10% to 13% over the last two weeks, already much higher than the statewide average of just under 2%.
