RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Back-to-school shopping is one of those events that the kids like to be involved in. They like to help pick out those new outfits or a new backpack and notebooks.
It's a tradition, but parents may be pulling out the laptops and going virtual back to school shopping this year.
Sara Skirboll a shopping and trends expert with the popular site Retailmenot says you may have to just embrace the change.
"So, you might have your sidekick sitting next to you on an iPad or a computer saying I want that. I want that. But it is tradition so I still think our kids are going to want to weigh in," said Skirboll.

Many retailers say they are taking extra precautions with safety measures and making sure merchandise remains clean.
“Unlimited number of items can be bought. The manufacturers and the retailers put discounts on, so all-in-all it's a great time for consumers,” State Comptroller Peter Franchot said.

Amazon Prime Day could be moving to a shopping mall near you soon | TechRadar

Amazon could be set to speed up deliveries by setting up new fulfillment centers in abandoned shopping mall stores.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the online retail giant has started talks with Simon Property Group, one of the largest owners of shopping mall real estate in the United States, concerning setting up additional distribution centers and shipping hubs.
The move could even get under way in time for Amazon Prime Day 2020 , meaning orders and deliveries can be processed and sent out to shoppers quicker than ever before.
This virtual feature changes online clothes shopping

You probably haven't been to the mall, or to your favorite department store in a while. We haven't either — which is why so many retailers are in financial trouble as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. But just because we haven't been going out doesn't mean we haven't been shopping, and our shift to online shopping is giving retailers an opportunity to experiment with virtual dressing rooms.
There are a few problems with the innovation. Many of us haven't really thought about trying things on virtually before. Still, it appears shoppers are willing to give the technology a try, and one company, Zeekit, which is partnering with retailers to offer the virtual dressing room service, says its retail partners have seen return rates drop by as much as 36 percent as a result of using their online fitting room experience.
Shopping for Multi-Light Pendants - The New York Times

There's a new kind of light fixture elbowing its way into territory once dominated by the chandelier. You may have already spotted it, spreading out above dining tables and cascading down stairwells: the multi-light pendant.
Rather than dangling a single cluster of crystal or a circular armature of bulbs, these fixtures suspend light over a large area, with an arrangement that can be customized and sometimes resembles an art installation.
"It's a nice way to replace the traditional chandelier, and gives the space a different point of view," said Jessica Wilpon Kamel, a partner at the New York-based design firm Ronen Lev .
