Often cited as a key tool in the process of abating the spread of COVID-19 and reopening the economy, public health officials and business leaders are pleading with area residents: wear a mask.
But for most people, having a mask at the ready and strapping it on before entering a store is an entirely new behavior.
"A year ago, if you'd have worn a mask into a business, you would have gotten some funny looks," said Michelle Hege, president and CEO of Spokane advertising firm Desautel Hege.

A coalition of Michigan business and health care leaders launched this week a campaign aimed at convincing those hesitant to follow the government-directed coronavirus protocols.

A national Republican committee working to keep the party's majority in the U.S. Senate is doubling down on a television advertisement the company it references says is false and defamatory and has threatened to sue local stations over running.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee started airing an ad last week that references $14 million in state grants to a Butte firm, Pioneer Technical Services. Pioneer is not named in the ad, but is referenced through its association with Gov. Steve Bullock's brother, Bill. NRSC released another ad on the same topic Friday.

Jon Ossoff , the Democratic candidate challenging incumbent Sen. David Perdue this November, slammed the Georgia Republican after his campaign posted a Facebook fundraising ad where Ossoff's nose was slightly enlarged, an image the Jewish Senate hopeful called a "classic anti-Semitic trope."
The Perdue campaign called the facial distortion an "unintentional error" by the vendor, and stressed that the senator did not see the ad before it was posted.
