Harvard undergraduates traded in-person lectures for online course previews this week, voicing mixed feelings about Harvard's new take on shopping period, a longstanding scheduling quirk that allows students to sample classes before officially enrolling.
During this year's virtual shopping window, students spent the week reviewing online course materials compiled by professors, watching the occasional course "trailer," or attending drop-in Zoom sessions that the Office of Undergraduate Education recommended instructors offer as a supplement to their syllabi.

The bad thing about this strange back-to-school shopping season is that many children won't be able to show off their new backpacks, lunchboxes, shoes, cellphone cases and other school swag to their friends. The good news is that I won't have to buy 20 glue sticks.
The school-supply list became an unexpected rite of late summer when my daughter started school a decade ago. The lists included an odd mix of not only notebooks, pens and pencils, but also tissues, Ziploc bags, sanitary wipes, liquid soap and glue sticks. They sounded like shopping lists for artists who also happened to be survivalists holed up in bunkers.
Arts in the Heart craft market open for virtual shopping - WFXG
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - This year's Arts in the Heart festival might be canceled due to the coronavirus, but you can still enjoy the Fine Arts and Crafts Market that has been a staple of the downtown Augusta event.

Small Biz Saturday: Ten Thousand Villages returns to in-person shopping, focuses on safety
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, Ten Thousand Villages Ann Arbor is a store with a mission.
The locally-owned fair trade retailer is one of a series of stores across the U.S. that want to make a multigenerational impact on the artisans who supply it with handcrafted works.
But fulfilling that mission has been hard right now due to the pandemic, according to general manager Cathy Marks. The store was closed for in-person shopping for many months and is now operating with a dramatically reduced staff.

Shopping for Back to School Garments and A Robe of Righteousness - News - Neosho Daily News -
Parents take our children to the stores where they spend hours looking through racks of clothes and trying on countless pairs of shoes. Children can be persnickety when it comes to finding those perfect outfits and amazingly cute shoes.
As the shopping day ticks away, parents begin to bargain with their children to hurry and choose something, anything, because it’s late in the day and there’s a gazillion things to do at home.
By the end of the day, parents are exhausted, but the children are happy with their new clothes. When the first bell rings welcoming everyone back to a new school year, they will wear their garments proudly.
