Hi. Welcome to On Politics , your guide to the day in national politics. I'm Nick Corasaniti, your host on Tuesdays for our coverage of all things media and messaging.

And in this deeply polarized climate, with a president who seeks out the most caustic corners of modern politics, campaigns seem to be relying on negative advertising more than ever.
Yet in covering political advertising during the past two presidential campaigns, one of the chief complaints I've heard from swing-state voters is about how miserable their television-watching experience becomes in the run-up to a primary or a general election. "Wheel of Fortune" turns into a morbid, lawless dystopia during each commercial break. The escape of a lighthearted sitcom is broken up with dire warnings about the end of health care.

IDAs, tourism group unveil website, ad campaign to lure businesses to LI | Newsday
Business executives from outside Long Island now have a virtual hub where they can see what the area offers to companies interested in moving here, officials said.
Both counties, their eight Industrial Development Agencies and the region's tourism promoter on Tuesday unveiled a website and advertising campaign aimed at luring businesses to Long Island. They spoke at the state Welcome Center on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills.
Much of the information at discoverlongisland.com/business comes from IDAs, the Long Island Association business group, the trade group HIA-LI, Newsday and Long Island Business News, among others. The web pages are meant to "excite" prospective businesses about the region and direct them to an IDA, which can help them secure tax breaks, according to Discover Long Island CEO Kristen Jarnagin.

Starting this week, the Democratic National Committee is upping its courtship of Pennsylvania's Black voters, a constituency whose support could well be determinative this voting season. In a new series of radio and print ads, the DNC wants to make sure they have a plan to vote.

Biden campaign to spend $6 million on Texas campaign ads
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's campaign is set to spend millions of dollars on TV ads in Texas as polls continue to show a close race in the state.
The former vice president's campaign announced earlier this year that it would make TV reservations this fall in Texas, and as of Tuesday, it had booked more than $6 million through Election Day, according to the media-tracking firm Advertising Analytics.
"This is historic. That shows you just how important Texas is to them and it shows that Texas is in play," said Abhi Rahman, a spokesperson for the Texas Democratic Party. "It shows you their investment in Texas is real." Rahman noted that Biden's spending is the biggest investment from a Democratic presidential nominee in the last 25 years and is a drastic change from 2016, when then-nominee Hillary Clinton didn't spend seriously in the state.

COORS SELTZER'S FIRST CAMPAIGN PUSHES EFFORTLESS ENVIRONMENTALISM
With nearly every brand in alcohol seemingly launching a hard seltzer, it’s becoming harder to stand out. Coors is hoping to win attention by backing its entry into the hot-selling category by aligning itself with an environmental cause. Except rather than running serious ads about the planet in peril, the brand is making a humorous appeal seemingly aimed at the laziest of environmentalists: drink seltzer to save rivers.
New ads show drinkers lounging, partying and playing video games, “for the rivers.” The campaign is backed by a pledge from the Molson Coors brand to restore 500 gallons of river water for every 12-pack sold, via donations to Change the Course. The organization is part of the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, which specializes in water restoration and conservation programs.
