In a few months, Whit’s Frozen Custard will open at 206 S. River Ave. — the former location of Decadent Dogs.
The storefront will be the first Whit’s location in Michigan. The popular franchise currently has locations in nine states — including Ohio, Alabama and Florida.
"My wife and I moved to Holland about seven years ago looking to open a Whit’s location," said owner Bill Sewell.
The eatery will be managed and operated by Sewell’s son and business partner, Logan. The family hopes to open by Jan. 1.

Burkes Outlet moves into former Gordmans/Peebles storefront
BUCYRUS - The East Pointe Shopping Center storefront that once housed Peebles and Gordmans didn't sit empty for long.
A new Burkes Outlet will open at the 181 Stetzer Road location on Nov. 2, store manager Kim Keller said Tuesday, the day a new sign went up on the building.
The chain, which just began moving into Ohio, offers department store items, but with outlet pricing, Keller said.
"It's everyday low-price," she said. "You'll be surprised ... we sell name-brand for less. We sell Coach purses, we sell Betsey Johnson, Jessica Simpson."

The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits rose last week to 898,000, a historically high number and evidence that layoffs remain a hindrance to the economy's recovery from the pandemic recession that erupted seven months ago.

'Womxn in Windows 2020,' an art show made for this moment - Los Angeles Times
Although it debuted last year, the annual exhibition "Womxn in Windows" feels made for our socially distant moment. Organized loosely around the theme of spirituality, this year's show consists of 10 works by eight female artists and filmmakers playing 24 hours a day in storefront windows on the walking street Chung King Road in Chinatown. No indoor spaces, physical contact or appointments required.
Also striking are three short, sharp works by Lebanese artist Rémie Akl. Starring herself, these rapid-fire videos assert a strong, proud, unapologetic Arab and female identity, exploring gender relations, political hypocrisy and corruption. They are brief but dense; you might have to watch each one more than once.
