But rather than a drop in traffic, amid lockdowns and social distancing, customers began flocking to its physical and online stores, spending stay-at-home savings and government stimulus checks on home-improvement projects.

A mall patron kicked a glass panel at Ontario Mills on Saturday, creating a loud sound that some mistook to be a gunshot, prompting several businesses to shelter in place and many people to flee the shopping center, authorities said.
Police officers who responded to the mall on 1 Mills Circle at 4:01 p.m. reviewed footage and confirmed the sound came from the mallgoer kicking the panel, said Ontario police Lt. Bill Russell, spokesman for the department. The individual appeared upset.

New York's iconic Strand bookstore makes plea to customers in effort to stay
"I'm going to pull out all the stops to keep sharing our mutual love of the printed word," Bass Wyden said in a statement. "But for the first time in The Strand's 93 year history, we need to mobilize the community to buy from us so we can keep our doors open until there is a vaccine."
The statement encouraged supporters of the store to spend money, buy gift cards and support the store using #savethestrand on social media. In response, authors and celebrities have expressed their love and support for the bookstore.

Boeing has made several changes to the planes' software including making a flight-control system that pilots struggled against in both crashes less aggressive.

A McDonald's customer who happens to also be a software engineer had enough after visiting restaurants on separate occasions trying to score a sundae in vain.

So, Rashiq Zahid created McBroken, a web application that maps which ice cream machines are not working at McDonald's restaurants across the U.S.
"I just made it for fun," Zahid told The Verge . "But people were like 'Wow, this is the best thing I've seen this entire week.'"
