One person was taken into custody Saturday night after a pickup truck crashed through the storefront of the Barn & Charm boutique on Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
First responders received reports of a vehicle into a building around 8:40 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervising Dispatcher Melinda Choi.
Units arriving on scene surveyed the damage and determined that there was no one trapped in either the vehicle nor the store, said Choi.

Space-challenged EN-RICH-MENT is expanding operations to two new sites
The future of EN-RICH-MENT was feeling very uncertain this past summer for Executive Director Betty Smith.
"Time is running out," Smith told The Canton Repository in July, worried that Avenue Arts was using EN-RICH-MENT's classroom space for storage. What was EN-RICH-MENT, which serves 200-plus local youth annually, going to do?
Fortunately for all concerned, the storyline has changed. EN-RICH-MENT is staying put at 1014 Cleveland, while Avenue Arts has vacated and is leasing a storefront at 207 Sixth Street NW as its new performing home.

In a city and area that is highly populated, why are Orthodox Hasidic coming to Washington hgt (West 164 st and broadway) and not wearing masks. They have rented this corner location and are not practicing social distancing and are congregating in large groups. This area has enough problems already and we DON’T need a super spreader event. Everyone is welcome of course as long as you follow the CDC rules of social distancing. We are all in this together.

Perhaps they've taken a note from the city manager's report on developing a vacant storefront registry ? After years of demanding developers create ground-floor retail but not creating any mechanism to incentivize filling that space, this order calls for public-facing storefront windows of retail space empty more than a month to be covered over with paper or filled with art. But again there's no particular incentive to fill the space.
Further items include an answer on opening the Fresh Pond Golf Course to the public for general use once a week (city staff are opposed, but might consider it for when the course closes in December) and a request for $175,000 for a sewer testing program to pinpoint Covid-19 outbreaks.

In COVID times, Central Florida charities reel and reinvent - Jacksonville Journal-Courier
“Overnight we’ve had to change everything,” said Captain Ken Chapman, who leads the agency’s Orange and Osceola county operations and has had to respond to historic demand for housing and food. In recent months, the charity erected giant tents to shelter its homeless residents while keeping them 6 feet apart, provided hazard pay to its front-line workers and distributed about a quarter-million food boxes and bags of groceries to people in need.
Now it’s hoping to recruit a legion of volunteers to host Red Kettle campaigns online to replace those that can no longer be set up at storefronts because of COVID-19 social-distancing requirements.
