Report: Ecommerce and last mile demands drive industrial real estate leasing growth in Q3 -

Third quarter United States-based industrial real estate activity shined, with logistics-focused markets helping to lead the way, according to the "Third Quarter Industrial Outlook" recently issued by Chicago-based industrial real estate firm JLL.

The report noted that third quarter industrial leasing came in at 114 million square feet and was paced by e-commerce (15.3 million square feet), logistics & distribution (14.3 million square feet), and 3PLs (7.1 million square feet), as well as traditional retailers (7.1 million square feet), construction materials & building fixtures (9.9 million square feet); manufacturing (2.1 million square feet); and food ands beverage (6.1 million square feet).

Watsco grows ecommerce to about one-third of all sales

When it comes to distributors and B2B ecommerce, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to create a digital tale of two markets.

While ecommerce sales in some distributor markets are flat or even declining, other sectors such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) are enjoying record years.

That trend in HVAC B2B ecommerce is evident in the recently released third-quarter earnings for Watsco Inc., a Miami-based company in business for 72 years and one of the biggest and oldest distributors of HVAC products and services.

Ecommerce platform X-Cart recovers from a ransomware attack - ThePaypers

According to Security Affairs , the company launched an internal investigation and discovered that threat actors exploited a vulnerability in a third-party software management tool to access the hosting platform and install the ransomware. The tool was immediately removed  from their systems. 

Meanwhile, the company started working with a security firm to confirm the source of entry and identify the ransomware strain. Moreover, according to the X-Cart's officials, the cybercriminals gained access to a small portion of the platform and encrypted some of its servers bringing down the X-Cart stores they were hosting. Users reported that the systems were down for several days.

Retail eCommerce news from week beginning 2 November -

The research with 250 CISOs and CIOs in global FS firms showed the impact Covid-19 is having on firms' cybersecurity. Forty-five percent of respondents reporting an increase in cyber-attacks since the pandemic first emerged. Securing the remote workforce has become a key objective for 42% of FS firms. Almost half (47%) have already increased their investment in secure collaboration tools.

Ninety-two percent of FS organisations have increased their cybersecurity investment over the previous 12 months, 26% significantly so. The main investment priorities for CISOs include secure file transfer (64%), protecting the remote workforce (63%) and cloud/Office365 (56%).
