How big could a COVID baby bust be? - Marketplace
As millions of families face lost income because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are making difficult decisions about their finances. And one of those decisions? Whether or not to grow their family.
The coronavirus pandemic will likely lead to a sizable baby bust. A report from the Brookings Institution found the decline could be on the order of 300,000 to 500,000 fewer births next year.

Ryssdal: Which is in raw terms, as I said in the introduction, 300,000 to 500,000-ish fewer births next year. What does that mean? Not in the next year, right? Because, yes, having kids [is] expensive, and it’s an economic thing. But when those children who aren’t going to be around would have turned 18, it becomes a labor force issue.

Indicative Customer Analytics Platform Approved on Google Cloud Marketplace
While Indicative features custom integrations with a variety of cloud data warehouses, Indicative's inclusion in the Google Cloud Marketplace means that users of Google's cloud storage products can begin using Indicative without needing to manually reconfigure their storage or network settings.
Connecting Indicative's Customer Analytics platform to an organization's cloud data warehouse avoids the errors created by duplicate data collection and provides every person within that organization a single source of truth. Query-building in Indicative does not require knowledge of structured query language (SQL), significantly lowering barriers for companies without large data teams to discover actionable insights within their customer data.
Airbnb raises price target for its IPO - Marketplace
It's a big week for IPOs in what's turning out to be a very big year. The meal-delivery service DoorDash is expected to raise more than $3 billion when it starts trading publicly on Wednesday. Airbnb will follow on Thursday, hoping to net around $3 billion as well.
On Monday, the short-term rental company increased its expected price range for the IPO to between $56 and $60 a share, which would put the company's total value at as much as $42 billion. That would be quite a comeback from earlier this year, when the pandemic upended the whole business model.

The COVID-19 vaccine is a technology miracle - Marketplace
COVID-19 vaccines are being administered this week in the United Kingdom, less than a year after COVID-19 became a devastating pandemic. And the vaccines from Pfizer, in partnership with BioNTech, and Moderna use a new type of vaccine technology that’s sort of like cellular engineering.
Molly Wood: I mean, this is vaccine development at a speed that no one’s ever seen before, combined with, of course, ongoing medical breakthroughs that keep happening. What does all of this suggest for the next pandemic?
