Shopify, the company that powers e-commerce sites for more than one million merchants, said on Thursday that it had closed two online stores tied to President Trump, including those run by the Trump Organization and the Trump campaign.
Cached versions of the sites show that they had sold merchandise like $45 pairs of Trump-branded champagne flutes, $30 "Make America Great Again" hats and a $24 poster of a cartoon of Mr. Trump punching into the air.

Online commerce and payment services have stopped the flow of money to Trump-related accounts in light of Wednesday's insurrection at the US Capitol. Software maker Shopify removed stores affiliated with President Donald Trump from its platform, and payment processor PayPal shut down an account raising funds for Trump supporters who traveled to Washington, DC.
The Joy In Liberty website features a form for "patriots" to request funds, and another where supporters can donate to "help patriots fulfill their dreams." The website also lists testimonials from people who used funds raised by Joy In Liberty to pay for travel to DC.

The website, Trumpstore.com was listed as "unavailable" on Thursday. Ontario-based Shopify helps small businesses set up e-commerce platforms and point-of-sale systems. As of June 2019, more than 1 million small businesses used its platform in more than 175 countries.

Trump's Shopify ban follows similar moves by Facebook and Instagram through the remainder of his presidency. It's a decision CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he made after Trump "[used] his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building."

There is a new name in online commerce platforms trying to make a splash, Cart.com . The company is acquiring existing platforms with the goal of becoming a one-stop solution for emerging brands and online commerce companies, from ecommerce storefront software to fulfillment services to marketing services and automation.
Founded in 2005, AmeriCommerce will serve as the foundation of Cart.com's ecommerce-as-a-service (or cloud-based) platform. Today, AmeriCommerce facilitates more than $500 million in gross merchandise value, providing end-to-end online store services for nearly 3,000 customers. AmeriCommerce was previously acquired by Capital One before being bought back by management.
