How COVID-19 accelerated a shopping revolution

A decade ago, “direct-to-consumer” emerged as a cool new business model pioneered by startups such as Everlane and Warby Parker. They sold products to customers online and cut out middleman retailers. These days, the DTC model is increasingly the norm.

At the start of 2020, 70% of Rebecca Minkoff’s sales came from wholesale orders from department stores such as Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. Then, in March, when the lockdowns went into effect, every single one of those wholesale orders was canceled. Minkoff was thrust into an existential crisis. “When you have so much coming from wholesale, that’s your focus every day,” she says.

With these listings now becoming free, consumers will have an expanded set of options. And that will make Google a more reliable place to search for bookings. It could help Google compete with an array of travel booking apps and services, which are also expected to boom in the post-COVID months to come. Online shopping options now available for WIC participants | KRQE News 13

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico families with Women, Infant, and Children benefits have more options when it comes to shopping. The New Mexico Department of Health recently rolled out online shopping and pick-up at three locations.

"Allowing WIC households to purchase WIC-eligible foods online will improve food access and relieve some of the stress New Mexicans face related to COVID-19," said WIC Director Sarah Flores-Sievers in a news release . The following are the three locations:

Skeletal remains found near Pa. shopping center - pennlive.com

Officials are investigating after skeletal remains were found Monday in the woods near Airport Road in Lehigh County, officials said.

Troopers were called at about 12:23 p.m. Monday, and found the remains of a male in a wooded area in the 2100 block of Hoover Avenue in Hanover Township , Lehigh County, Trooper Nathan Branosky said.

The area includes warehouses for US Foods and Primo Produce, and is behind a shopping center that includes BJ's Wholesale Club.
