We'll continue building features within the Shopping tab and other Google surfaces, including the Google app." The shopping.google.com site will remain active.

The app allowed users to choose from among thousands of online stores and make purchases using their Google accounts. to quickly shop across thousands of stores and purchase stuff using your Google Account. Lileks: Do all husbands have a genetic shopping deficiency? - StarTribune.com

Guests were due in an hour for brunch. My wife was doing kitchen things. You know, sautéing, reducing, clarifying, crisping, probably broasting, whatever that is. While using some dental floss to get out some gunk in the screws in light switch plate, I heard my wife call. We had a problem. We had a major problem.

No, there was time. I could find a shallot, and it could be added to the mélange of potatoes and vegetables, proving the rarefied gustatory pizazz that only a shallot can provide. "OK, I'm off to the store," I said. "Just one thing: Remind me what a shallot is. No — text me a picture."

After dire year England's shops hope for end-of-lockdown shopping spree | 1450 AM 99.7 FM WHTC |

LONDON (Reuters) - After more than three months of enforced closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, non-essential stores in England reopen their doors on Monday, hoping that the escape from lockdown will fuel a trading boom.

Industry lobby group, the British Retail Consortium, estimates UK stores have lost 27 billion pounds ($37 billion) in sales over three lockdowns, while 67,000 retail jobs were shed in 2020 alone.

Some 17,532 chain store outlets vanished from high streets, shopping centres and retail parks across the UK last year, according to data compiled by researcher the Local Data Company for accountancy firm PwC.

Rant & Rave: Obstructive shopping carts add unneeded stress to the grocery store | The

RANT to ill-placed shopping carts. Grocery shopping can be exhausting and time-consuming for everyone, but it makes it even more difficult when folks leave their carts in what is already a "pinch point" at the end of an aisle or where there are store fixtures close together so they can go get something. I either have to stop and wait for someone to come back from where they went to retrieve their cart, or move their cart out of my way when I need to pass.

RAVE to the wonderful professors at Seattle Central College. I returned to school for the fall 2021 quarter because of unemployment (rave to Washington state's workforce program and Worker Retraining Program!) and the creativity, positivity and encouragement of my professors to keep going during this tough time has made all the difference.

Fields: A little reverse psychology to spur savvy shopping

Ever since I started with this feature, I have always felt like Savvy Shopping is an idea that can help anyone. However, regardless of how irrefutable the reasoning may be, persuasion has to play a large role in whether someone will come to see things your way. And among the persuasive techniques of Ethos (authority), Pathos (emotion), Kairos (call to action), and Logos (reason), I have frequently used them all.

However, one method I don't try very often is reverse psychology. That's the one where you get someone to do the opposite of what you suggest. Since there are definitely people who only have a taste for forbidden fruit, it stands to reason that disapproval could serve as an enticement.

Tips for shopping, cooking when it's just you or two | Food and Cooking | nwitimes.com

Considering there's no pressure from family members to cook, eating solo may lead to some rather uninspiring meals. Then there's always the big question of what to cook. A lack of appetite complicates the situation.

Cooking for two can be as challenging as well as a big adjustment for recent empty-nesters. It's a shock to go from feeding young adults with great metabolisms to two people who are most likely watching their waistlines. Leftovers that were once a rarity can get to be a drag by the third meal.

'I get a thrill when my online shopping arrives'

Siobhán Harton: 'I've saved mainly for travel. I love to travel and experience new places and new cultures.'

Are you a saver or a spender?
I love to think I'm a saver, but at the moment my bank account tells me differently, which means I'm definitely a spender. Lockdown is making saving easier though.

Do you shop around for better value?
Yes, I always shop around. Maybe not for a better price, but definitely better quality and value. I like comparing products, so I shop around before purchasing the likes of insurance, travel, car, clothes, furniture.
