Queens native and Elmont, Long Is. resident Jamie Ralliford, also known as Celebrity DJ Ms. Chu, on Saturday hosted an inaugural free Mother's Day pop-up shopping experience for more than 20 young mothers and at-risk youth at 210 Hoyt St., downtown Brooklyn.
Ralliford, whose husband is Jamaican Andre Ralliford, is chief executive officer of Bold & Boss Boutique, which sponsored the event, dubbed "Makeovers & Mac: A Mother's Day Pop-Up Shopping Experience Benefitting Young Mothers."

D ear Readers: Fess up. Do you always do the right thing, even when no one is looking? I'm sure you do. This is called the Shopping Cart Theory. When you're done grocery shopping, do you take the shopping cart back to either the store or the corral, even though you're not required to? There's no bonus for doing it, and there's no sanction for not doing it.

The Williamsburg Shopping Center is looking for a new bank to take up tenancy where United Bank once had a branch.
Leasing agent Nora Eways said the bank location at 6500 Williamsburg Blvd shuttered on Jan. 15 but did not give a reason for the closure. The shopping center’s owner is hoping to find another bank to fill the space, perhaps in part due to the large metal bank vault that appears in interior photos .
While the search continues for another bank, she said other potential tenants, including medical groups, have expressed interest in the spot.

A man inside a semitrailer truck shot himself outside a Rochester shopping center Wednesday morning with state troopers and police on the scene, authorities said.
The gunfire occurred in the parking lot of the Miracle Mile Shopping Center just off Hwy. 14, said police spokeswoman Amanda Grayson.
Grayson said law enforcement fired no shots, and she has seen no indication that any officers were injured.
She said police were called about 8:30 a.m. to assist the State Patrol, which is the lead agency in connection with this incident.
Garbage truck overturns in busy Augusta shopping area
The driver of the garbage truck ran a red light and struck the car, then overturned, according to deputies.
The driver of the car was taken to Augusta University Medical Center on a complaint, deputies reported.
The accident closed at least a left-turn lane, according to dispatchers. Drivers reported up to a 15-minute delay getting around the wreck.
