Masks and shopping: what stores still require them - WRCBtv.com | Chattanooga News, Weather &

As news broke last week of the CDC's newest guidance on mask-wearing for fully-vaccinated people, different stores across the country adjusted, re-enforced or dropped their stand on mask-wearing for customers and employees.

Please note: local requirements may supersede stores' policies. The requirements are quickly changing as stores and businesses review the CDC guidance and make their decisions.

Walmart said that Masks will no longer be required for fully vaccinated Walmart employees or customers starting Tuesday.

Toy Retailer Rolls Out Online Shopping for Kids as Young as 3 - WSJ

New York-based toy retailer Camp NYC Inc. is adding an e-commerce feature to its website that lets kids as young as 3 years old shop for gifts and check out with minimal adult oversight.

The idea is for kids to be able to buy something for friends, family members or themselves without requiring further signoff from an adult. The platform guides children through the shopping experience and filters the items it shows by asking questions such as what types of toys the gift recipient likes.

How shopping on Instagram and TikTok can lead to credit card debt - Vox

She laughs when she mentions the seven days of the silent treatment, a distinctly Midwestern shrug that makes its way along Iowa phone lines. The laugh seems intended to reframe her tribulations and make them feel manageable, but it was the very unmanageability of her social media-fueled compulsive shopping habits, and the debt that they accrued, that led her to turn to her husband for support. Instead, he offered silence.

"I'm home with my kids all day, and I'm looking to escape somehow," she says. Like many people, Erin turned to social media. And social media — a landscape increasingly strewn with consumerism land mines like targeted ads, sponsored content, and influencer fashion hauls — deposited her directly into online shopping.

Scottsdale woman invents recyclable shopping cart liner

For Andi Barness-Rubin, the COVID-19 pandemic led to invention. The Scottsdale woman created a recyclable shopping cart liner to protect people from the germs and grime that cling to carts.

Barness-Rubin, who started  Cart Safe in April 2020 , points to an often-quoted study from University of Arizona microbiologist Charles Gerba – also known as  Dr. Germ  – that found E. coli and other bacteria on a random check of shopping carts.

"Once it was learned that the quantity of bacteria found on shopping cart surfaces was higher than those found in public restrooms," Barness-Rubin said, "we knew we needed to create a cover that would add that much-needed extra layer of protection between shoppers and shopping carts."
