Amazon releases statement about New World storefront, ... a battle pass

Amazon Game Studios has released a statement about New World’s storefront that has appeared in the Alpha, after fan feedback that had concerns. From the statement, Amazon has clarified that all items in the storefront will not be necessary to get the full experience of New World, and that the items will be cosmetic in nature.

Some questions have come up recently from our Alpha patch notes discussing an in-game storefront. Our plan in having a store is to
create an outlet for players who find enough value in store items that they are happy to purchase them. Our plan is not, and never
will be, to create a feeling that store items are necessary to enjoy the game. All players will be able to play the full game experience.

PlayStation's Steam storefront suggests new games are coming to PC

In recent months we have seen both console platforms, PlayStation and Xbox , start to add their game to Valve's Steam PC store.

So far only a handful of PlayStation games are on Steam, but it looks like a lot more could be coming to the store soon.

Sony has created their own PlayStation curator's page on Steam , as a hub for all of their releases.

So far, only four PlayStation games are listed on Steam, Horizon Zero Dawn, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Helldivers, and the upcoming Days Gone port.

New downtown businesses a sign of recovery

Several new businesses have opened and are opening in downtown El Dorado and discussions about the openings were cross-referenced during Main Street El Dorado and El Dorado Historic District Commission meetings last week.

Elizabeth Eggleston, executive director of the EHDC, told commissioners May 13 that three new downtown businesses have reached out with inquiries about potential Certificate of Appropriateness requests.

COAs are required for most projects within the city's commercial historic district, which encompasses most of downtown El Dorado, particularly if the work will affect the historical or architectural character and integrity of the district.

Why Valve's Steam May Be Coming To Consoles (& Why Not)

The most recent fuel on the fire is a comment from Valve president Gabe Newell. When asked if Steam games would be coming to consoles at a talk in Auckland, New Zealand, Newell said, " You will have a better idea of that by the end of this year ." Executives typically flat-out deny rumors if they're not of substance. At the same time, Newell's response didn't offer any specifics and might even allow the possibility of reversing course.

Just having Steam Lin on consoles would be a win-win scenario. Valve could make Steam even more integral to PC gaming , while console makers could sell more units and accessories, like officially licensed keyboards and more. Whatever the company's plans are, gamers could apparently hear about them in the next few months.

Schubert rose from dire beginnings to become respected businessman

Stretching along Railroad Avenue in downtown Russellville is a large storefront, crowned with a section of red bricks that boldly displays the name "Schubert."

In the book "The Heritage of Russellville in Cole County," Reba Koester said the formal education Schubert received "amounted to only a few years in the public school and a few months in a private German school."

"At the age of 24, he was associated in the mercantile business at Decatur," explained the book written for the sesquicentennial celebration of Russellville in 1988. Decatur was once a thriving community with a mill, hotel and other businesses located south of Russellville along the South Moreau Creek.
