Shopify and Affirm launch broad rollout of installment payments - MarketWatch

Affirm Holdings Inc. and Shopify Inc. are rolling out their installment-payment offering to more Shopify merchants in a progression of a partnership between the two companies.

The companies announced Thursday that the offering, which lets people split purchases into installments, will now become an option for "hundreds of thousands" of Shopify SHOP, +1.28% merchants. The broad rollout will also make the installment option available for the "millions" of consumers using Shop Pay and the Shop app, according to a Shopify blog post.

Shopify (SHOP) Outpaces Stock Market Gains: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Shopify (SHOP) closed at $1,231.10, marking a +1.28% move from the previous day. The stock outpaced the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.47%.

Coming into today, shares of the cloud-based commerce company had gained 12.15% in the past month. In that same time, the Computer and Technology sector gained 2.06%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.12%.

Wall Street will be looking for positivity from SHOP as it approaches its next earnings report date. On that day, SHOP is projected to report earnings of $0.98 per share, which would represent a year-over-year decline of 6.67%. Our most recent consensus estimate is calling for quarterly revenue of $1.03 billion, up 43.98% from the year-ago period.

Shopify Dishes on Main Street's Prospects

"Of those, three in five (59 percent) say they may be forced to close their business within the next 24 months," according to the report. It laid out one of the key issues for these stores: They tend to underestimate factors that discourage people from buying.

For instance, as many as 38 percent of U.S. consumers report that not knowing product availability stops them from visiting an establishment, while only 19 percent of stores recognized that as an obstacle.

Shopify, Affirm open access to buy now, pay later service for US merchants | BetaKit

Canadian e-commerce firm Shopify and American buy now, pay later (BNPL) tech company Affirm have opened up access to Shop Pay Installments for eligible Shopify merchants in the United States.

"We have taken a complex technical problem and built a simple, easy-to-use tool to help businesses of all sizes and in many verticals thrive."

The service gives consumers that use Shop Pay and the Shop App access to an interest-free payment installment option when purchasing products from merchants that have the option enabled. Shop Pay Installments, which is powered by Affirm's BNPL technology, avoids sending buyers to another website to complete their purchase, which Affirm claims makes it unique among BNPL solutions.

'Shopify for physical stores' raises £1.3m - BusinessCloud

Retail disrupter Mercaux has secured £1.3 million in new debt financing from Flashpoint Venture Debt.

The London firm helps transform retail stores from simple point of sale, into multi-purpose centres that deliver a personalised in-store customer experience and omnichannel sales, as well as serve as customer acquisition and remote selling channels.
