Most Storefront Rents in New York Are As High As Ever

After months of hearing about how the pandemic had laid waste to New York's retail landscape, leaving shuttered storefronts and desperate landlords, Marvis Burns thought that he'd have no trouble finding a larger space on 125th Street.

Though retail asking rents plummeted in swanky shopping strips like Fifth (between 42nd and 49th) and Madison Avenues (rents fell about 25 percent in those districts between spring 2019 and spring 2021, according to the Real Estate Board of New York ) — and in tourist areas like Times Square and

As ghost kitchens began to take off last year, friends Shawn Edwards, Frederick Huballa and Marques Johnson took advantage of an underused kitchen to create CHX as a takeout-only business.

But a transition to its own brick-and-mortar location didn't pay off, according to a statement from investors. After only 90 days with a storefront on a prime Uptown corner, CHX closed Monday.

Retail pop-up program seeks tenants for downtown Raleigh storefront - Triangle Business Journal

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is continuing its effort to make retail space more accessible to minority- and woman-owned businesses with its pop-up retail space and incubator program.

The organization has teamed up with StartUp at Wake Tech and LM Restaurants to find tenants for the Pop-Up Shops at Martin Street initiative. Applications are being accepting through Oct. 19 for eligible retailers to temporarily take over the 1,230-square-foot space at 17 E. Martin St.

Suspects crash car through storefront before $15k phone raid | News | Independent TV

Suspected burglars ploughed into a glass storefront in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before allegedly stealing over $15,000 in phones, tablets, and watches, Tulsa Police Department said.

Video released by the department shows a stolen crashing through the front of the cell phone store before three suspects run into the building and ransack the store, police said, leaving with the stolen goods after several minutes.
