It's been a long, slow road for storefront lending reform

When I started writing about storefront lenders in 1999, I was a business editor and had covered banks for years. From a banking perspective these operations, also called predatory or payday lenders, made sense after a fashion.

The lenders and their lobbyists have convinced legislators of their usefulness and their math. Until this year.

DoorDash launches Storefront for restaurant partners in US

Food delivery company DoorDash has announced the launch of Storefront, its new commission-free online ordering product integrated with Order with Google, for restaurants in the US.

The new product has been designed to help restaurants develop their digital presence and create their own online space for accepting orders.

Storefront collapses in downtown Madison; owner and manager narrowly miss falling facade | News |

While Junque Korner manager Susan Whisenant was locking up Thursday afternoon, she 'heard a loud popping noise" and watched the entire front of the building begin to collapse. The last pieces of debris skidded to a stop inches from her, she said. "It was right at my feet."

The entire front of the Junque Korner on West Jefferson collapsed in a pile of dust and debris Thursday around 5:45 p.m. Moments before the collapse, store owner Keith Rex and his manager Susan Whisenant were standing under the awning discussing business.

Early morning collision Thursday in Willoughby damages storefront

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) - Police took a man into custody after he allegedly struck another vehicle with his truck, causing damage to a downtown storefront.

Officers responded to the scene in the 4000 block of Erie Street at about 2 a.m., Thursday morning after receiving reports of an injury accident.

Siblings open Brownbrook Market in Centerville to fund college | 13wmaz.com

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Two Warner Robins siblings are now business partners, and they're not even old enough to drive!

Now, they have a business together with a dual purpose of helping them save for college and giving back to their community.

Bay Area bagel business to open first storefront in Oakland

Nearly two years after Poppy Bagels launched as a pop-up and fast became a power player in the Bay Area's bagel scene , the popular business is ready to open its first storefront.

Owner Reesa Kashuk made the announcement Tuesday in an Instagram post where she shared the forthcoming store would open in Oakland's trendy Temescal neighborhood at 5004 Telegraph Ave. The business hasn't set an opening date yet, but her aim is to open sometime in the late summer or early fall.
