Local woman warns of used car scam on Facebook Marketplace

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - As online car sale trends pick up, there is more opportunity for buyers to be swindled by fake sellers.

The woman, who doesn't want to be identified, said she's out at least $1,000 after sending money to a seller for a Toyota that never came.

Two charged for selling stolen items on Facebook Marketplace

Joesph Placker, 33, and Eulalia Smith, 46, have been identified as sellers of various stolen items.

According to an affidavit, a woman made a report of stolen property in Comanche County which was later found on Facebook Marketplace.

Both have been charged with one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and another of Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining Money by False Pretenses.

Internal Revenue Code Section 199A provides an amazingly large annual federal income tax deduction to owners of "pass-through businesses"; the amount of the deduction can be up to 20% of their shares of the income of their businesses.
