Minnesota considers $4.5 million for ad campaign to lure out-of-state workers

Minnesota would launch a multi-million dollar marketing effort to attract out-of-state talent and address the worker shortage under a proposal from state economic development officials.

The $4.5 million campaign would amplify the message on Minnesota's talent attraction website, JoinUsMN.com . State officials say they currently lack the money to promote the website.

FTC Sues to Stop "Deceptive" TurboTax "Free" Ad Campaign — ProPublica

With millions of Americans scrambling to file their taxes in the next few weeks, the Federal Trade Commission asked a federal court late Monday to intervene to stop Intuit from claiming in ads that Americans can file for "free" using the company's TurboTax software.

The FTC began investigating TurboTax in 2019 in response to ProPublica stories describing how users had been lured into using the software with promises of free filing, only to discover later they had to pay fees to finish the process.

GOP governor hopeful Rinke launches ad focused on family business

The initial two-week statewide ad buy announced Wednesday is part of the $10 million investment 60-year-old Rinke promised to make toward his campaign in July in a bid to make it through the field of 11 GOP candidates hoping to win the party's nomination.

Rinke will face formidable fundraising competition in the general election should he win the primary. In January, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's campaign had $9.9 million available to spend.
