Storefront Upgrades Arriving Soon Downtown – Chelsea Record

The City of Chelsea's Department of Housing and Community Development, under the leadership of Chelsea City Council, is pleased to announce that the Storefront Improvement Program is supporting eight downtown small businesses with signage, lighting, awning, and facade upgrades.

In total, seven (7) out of the eight (8) selected businesses are minority owned, while 2 out of eight (8) are owned by women. Through the Program, small businesses direct the design of new signage and other upgrades, in consultation with an architect and signage company.

On Feb. 6, a Chicago-area man received a record-breaking $91 million settlement from 7-Eleven after losing both his legs in an accidental crash outside one of the company’s stores in Bensenville, Illinois, in 2017.

This case—and the alarming prevalence of incidents like it—showcases the importance of taking security measures like installing safety bollards and protective barriers outside of storefronts.

We are seeing the city crumble before our eyes w/ no leadership or foresight whatsoever. Anarchy is NOT the answer, however exciting some believe that to be. Way TOO many people here, for no rules...chaos & disorder.

Landlords who knowingly rent to these illegal spots need to be dragged into court and forced to pay major fines for flouting the law. Unless you start hitting the real estate industry in their pocket, places like this will keep opening.
