SLO CAL Roots announced the grand opening of Root One, the first and only storefront cannabis dispensary in the Santa Maria Valley. The celebration kicks off from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at 928 Guadalupe St. This community-focused event will provide an array of festivities, including live music and free food.

Attendees can look forward to a festive atmosphere featuring free Slushies and authentic Santa Maria-style barbecue, complemented by live DJ performances throughout the day.

This opening marks an milestone for SLO CAL Roots, which was founded in 2003 by local growers Austen Connella and Kristin Kordich.

Root One joins the ranks of SLO CAL Roots' existing dispensaries in San Luis Obispo and Grover Beach.

In December, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office will take part in a community forum at the Joseph Centeno Betteravia Government Administration Building to share information about the agency's participation in any ICE holds or detainer requests as part of compliance with the TRUTH ACT.

This fall, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department plans to conduct prescribed burns for strategic wildland fuel reduction purposes in the area of Tepusquet Road.
