Barclays has outlined the parameters surrounding a critical £5,000 cap that every client should be mindful of. The bank issued this caution following a gripe from a patron who was unable to conduct in-person banking, prompting them to get in touch with Barclays after encountering difficulties.

An irate customer posted a photo of an announcement on the door of the shut Lord Street branch in Liverpool which stated were doing some work on this branch. According to the sign, the branch would be closed from November 16 to 29 and recommended customers visit nearby Barclays branches either on Grange Road in Birkenhead or Golden Square in Warrington.

The disgruntled individual blurted out: ⁘Really! So I have a problem paying in cheque and the only way to resolve is to drive to Birkenhead or Warrington.⁘, reports the Express . In response, Barclays expressed regret over the ⁘troubles⁘ being faced by the customer while attempting their banking tasks.

The support team queried: ⁘Could you please let me know the value of the cheque? Do you have access to the Barclays app? ⁘. They further clarified that customers could use the app to ⁘deposit sterling cheques up to £5,000 each⁘ expanding on the available alternatives.

The Barclays team also informed that individual users can deposit a maximum of four cheques per week, whereas business savers are permitted up to 20 cheques weekly. A direct link to the Barclays site was provided to the customer as well, detailing instructions on how to deposit cheques via smartphone.

Barclays has been dishing out some extra pointers, remarking: ⁘You can also pay cheques into the Post Office, if you're unable to do this via the app and the Post Office is closer to the branches that you've mentioned.⁘ A sign on the shut down branch highlighted that the closest Post Office was nestled in WHSmith on South John Street in Liverpool. For those hunting for a free cash withdrawal option, Santander on Lord Street is the place to go.
