The Top Four Mistakes Beginners Make With Their First Facebook Ad Campaign

Nowadays, companies that win with ads are those that have the best creative approach. A compelling video, catchy graphic and magnetic copy goes a long way — it gets potential customers to pay attention. Focus your efforts here first, because if you can’t get a potential customer to stop their scrolling and actually read or engage with the ad, it doesn’t matter if you have the best product in the world. Each is as important as the other.

Ranchers fed up with Burger King ad campaign | State and Regional | jhnewsandguide.com

A recent ad campaign by fast-food giant Burger King, shown, proved to be the last straw for a group of Goshen County ranchers.

Burger King released its Impossible Whopper in August 2019, a product some people find controversial that features a meat-free patty made mostly of soy instead of beef. The latest ad campaign touts Burger King's plan to introduce lemongrass to cows' diets to reduce their methane emissions.

That commercial was the tipping point, said Lori Shafer. Ranchers including Shafer decided to take a stand by lining the streets and an adjacent parking lot near the Burger King in Torrington last Friday with pickup trucks and trailers adorned with pro-beef signs and American flags.

GOP congressman says person responsible for deleted Perdue campaign ad should be 'outed', 'fired'

Walmart's marketplace doubles in a year: report | Retail Dive

The number of sellers on Walmart's marketplace has doubled to more than 50,000 since July 2019, according to a report from Marketplace Pulse . More than 5,000 new sellers have joined the platform since the retail giant announced its partnership with Shopify last month.

Since the beginning of 2020, the number of items available for sale on Walmart's marketplace has dropped from more than 50 million to about 36 million, according to the report. The decrease in product offerings stems from a few large marketplace sellers delisting their catalogs, particularly in the books and home categories, per the report.

Ryssdal: OK. So to this film, and your personal ties to Paradise. It’s a little bit brutal. Robots are getting personal during the pandemic - Marketplace

This week on “Marketplace Tech,” we’re reporting on the innovations that will help us transition to a post-pandemic future. One of those innovations has been waiting in the wings for a long time: robots.

Molly Wood: It seems like there are lots of different aspects to this. And some of it is maybe someone can’t have their cleaning lady come and they just need help, because we’re cooking at home all the time, making a bigger mess. But there’s also robots in the context of medicine and companionship. Talk a little bit about these various roles that we’re seeing become more necessary.

Study: Brick-and-mortar shopping makes a comeback | Chain Store Age

COVID-19 continues to have a major impact on consumer spending, but bright spots include physical stores and food delivery.

According to the July 2020 Cardlytics "U.S. State of Spend" report, with the start of July, in-store retail sales are now showing positive year-over-year growth. Spend at brick & mortar retailers is up 1.2% compared to the same period in 2019, following in-store sales being down 12.8% year-over-year in Q2.

Despite the fact that overall spend is recovering, Cardlytics data indicates customers have become more cautious about spending on non-essentials in recent weeks. For the first time since late March, discretionary spend as tracked by Cardlytics decreased slightly and is now down 26.4% year-over-year and 9.4% week-over-week.

How shopping is changing during and after coronavirus | Ms. Cheap

Target joins Walmart in ending Thanksgiving store shopping

NEW YORK (AP) — Target is joining Walmart in closing its stores on Thanksgiving Day, ending a decade long tradition of jump-starting Black Friday door buster sales.

The move, announced Monday, comes as stores are rethinking this year's Black Friday shopping bonanza weekend — along with other key retail days during the holiday season — as the country battles the coronavirus pandemic.

Stores always depended on big holiday crowds and work as much as a year in advance with manufacturers on securing exclusive items. Now, the virus has turned the holiday shopping model upside down. Stores have slashed orders and crowds are an anathema. With fears of a wave of virus cases in the fall, the biggest nightmare would be if retailers had to reclose during the most critical time of the year, analysts said.
