Trump ads on Facebook warns about Super Bowl censorship
President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has run more than 200 misleading political advertisements on Facebook in the past day claiming the “Fake News media” will attempt to block the campaign’s upcoming Super Bowl ad — despite federal regulations that require the TV spot be aired.
The messages, posted to Facebook on Thursday and Friday and disclosed on the tech platform’s advertising transparency website, represent the latest example of the social media giant’s willingness to let politicians misdirect users and could revive criticism that the company profits from misinformation. Facebook declined to comment.
Issa defends himself from accusations of 'gay-baiting' in campaign ad
LOS ANGELES — Former Rep. Darrell Issa is facing fierce backlash over a controversial new campaign ad that critics say is "gay-baiting" against his opponent in a competitive congressional primary.
But Issa — who is mounting a bid to return to the House two years after retiring from the chamber — is strongly defending the attack ad, which prominently notes that his fellow Republican, Carl DeMaio, is gay.

The spot includes shots of headlines from two news stories from The Hill and The Los Angeles Blade, an LGBTQ publication, that both refer to DeMaio's sexuality. In one case, a headline from a 2018 article in the Blade carries the headline "Carl DeMaio: California's gay GOP kingmaker." Another features a 2013 article from The Hill: "Gay GOP Candidate: Party Must Change."
