Upon returning to campus this semester, students may have been pleasantly surprised to find several updates to the Marketplace. According to Blake Milakis, director of dining services, the updates to the campus dining area range from visual to practical.
"We did a lot of updates," he said. "There's a graphic package that updated the stations we have inside of the Marketplace and added different graphics on the windows. We got all new display tables, a bunch of smallwear and some new stations that came with a lot of different menu changes."
This may worth something:
Home Cafe & Marketplace closing its doors
In a post on social media, the owners of Home Cafe and Marketplace announced the restaurant will be closing.
The restaurant opened in August 2011 and in December the owners teased renovations to the restaurant.
Around the same time, the owner of Lost River Pizza Company reached out to see if they would sell the space instead of remodeling.
Officials say after the holidays the owners of both restaurants came to an agreement to sell Home Cafe to Lost River Pizza.
NY lawsuit targets shuttered sex marketplace Backpage - ABC News
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in state court in Manhattan by Melanie Thompson, now 23, charges that the men who ran Backpage advertised her for sex even though they knew she was a minor, masking her age in the ads to keep law enforcers at bay.
The lawsuit targets Backpage.com, its former CEO Carl Ferrer, its founders Michael Lacey and James Larkin and several holding companies that had ownership stakes in the company.

Launched in 2004 as part of the classified section of the Village Voice and other alternative weeklies, Backpage grew to become the nation's largest online marketplace for sex.

Seattle startup Nori raises cash for blockchain marketplace to fight climate change –
Microsoft's sweeping pledge to remove more planet-warming carbon from the atmosphere than it emits has the tech world buzzing about "carbon removal." A Seattle startup just raised cash to take that concept to a new level.
Nori operates a blockchain-based marketplace with its own cryptocurrency tokens to allow corporations, governments and individuals to fund efforts to reduce levels of carbon dioxide in the air. It just raised $1.3 million in a "pre-seed" round to continue this push.
Moov, A Marketplace For Used Manufacturing Equipment, Emerges From Stealth With $2.4M From NFX
One of my favorite tracks of all time is “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service. Released in 2003 on the band’s debut album, Give Up, it’s driven by an excellent IDM-ish bass line, piano accents, Ben Gibbard’s airy yet emphatic vocals, and lyrics ostensibly espousing the “radness” of love. It is, bar none, a great song.
Its music video is set in the clean room of a semiconductor manufacturing facility. As sterile an environment as you could imagine, it nonetheless depicts a storyline of budding romance via furtive glances shared through visors worn over “bunny suit” coveralls. Interspersed throughout these intimate yet alienated human moments are various machines, working steps along the process of making silicon sand think on our behalf. The video is worth a watch .
Private Marketplace Ad Spending to Surpass Open Exchange in 2020 - eMarketer Trends, Forecasts
This year, for the first time, programmatic ad spending on private marketplaces (PMP) will surpass that on open exchanges. PMPs—a subset of real-time bidding (RTB) in which some sort of private deal exists between a publisher or a small group of publishers and select ad buyers—will see double-digit growth throughout the forecast period. Growth in PMP ad spending will outpace that of the open markets by about 3 to 1 in 2020 and beyond.
Many of the factors limiting open market investment are driving dollars into PMPs, which buyers and sellers deem safer and more compatible with their long-term strategies.
