Crews demolish portion of Edmondson Village Shopping Center after fire
Demolition started Tuesday on the burned-out portion of the Edmondson Village Shopping Center which caught fire in November.

Demolition crews spent much of the day tearing down the burned-out section. In all, 10 businesses are affected. Four will be relocated in the shopping center and six will leave.
Demolition crews began tearing down what's left after the Baltimore City Fire Department concluded its investigation. It could not determine the cause of the fire.

VIDEO: Hattiesburg police chase suspect through shopping center
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg man is accused of leading police on a chase Tuesday morning after driving away from the scene of a crash on Hardy Street.
Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Ryan Moore said the crash happened near Merit Health Wesley around 9 a.m.
Moore said 29-year-old Donald McDaniel was involved in the crash and drove away as officers responded to the scene.
Viewer video sent to WDAM shows Hattiesburg police chasing McDaniel, who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck, through the parking lot of a shopping center off Hardy Street.

City Fines Stores When Their Shopping Carts Are Stolen and Dumped | National Review
In Lakewood, Wash., some of the city’s homeless and other residents have made a habit of stealing shopping carts from various grocery and retail outlets and dumping the carts on road verges and other public-facing locales. The number of cart-related complaints made to the municipal government increased 40 percent in 2019, and Lakewood officials claim the scattered carts make the city appear "blighted."
The city’s proposed solution to this state of affairs, which residents say threatens property values, is not to punish the vagrants — whose theft and subsequent disposal of private property inconveniences the stores and the broader public — but instead to fine the stores from which the property is stolen. Shoppers have evolved their view on value in 2019 as compared to 10 years ago. While value is a combination of price and quality, a heavier emphasis was placed on quality in 2019 compared to 2009. This may be because people are becoming more conscious and purposeful with their purchases and the volume at which they purchase.
In terms of specific brands and retailers, respondents were asked to list those that communicate "value," revealing consistencies and shifts in the last decade among brands and retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Nike, Dove, Revlon, Toyota, Ford, Apple, Samsung, Kellogg's and more. For example, Walmart retained its value perception in the Stores category, while Kellogg's fell from #1 to #3 in Foods, as did Honda in Cars/Accessories/Parts.
