Biden announces 'six figure' Super Tuesday ad campaign - POLITICO

Joe Biden's campaign is launching advertising in Super Tuesday states — but the small ad buy leaves the former vice president significantly outmatched by most of his Democratic rivals as 14 states prepare to vote on March 3.

The buy, details of which were shared first with POLITICO, primarily targets Southern states voting next week with ads touting the former vice president's relationship with former President Barack Obama.

The campaign is airing a television ad that features Obama praising Biden in early 2017, when Obama awarded his right-hand man the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

"In the interest of truth in advertising, we are calling on TV stations to take this ad down and stop playing into the hands of bad actors who seek to sow division and confusion among the electorate," she continued.

Hill added that while Obama is not endorsing in the primary, he has "several friends," including Biden, competing in it.

The ad uses excerpts from Obama's 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father," in an effort to get the attention of black voters in the state.

Anti-Medicare for All ad campaign launches in South Carolina - POLITICO

A healthcare industry alliance has quietly launched a six-figure ad campaign in South Carolina that appears aimed at thwarting Bernie Sanders' momentum ahead of Saturday's primary election.

In another ad , a mother warns against "new government-controlled health insurance systems politicians are pushing," saying "it's time to build on what's working and fix what's broken, not start over."

"As a former health insurance executive, I can tell you that the massive popularity of Medicare for All in these early states would have been my worst nightmare because it threatens billions in profits for corporate executives," said Wendell Potter, former head of communications at Cigna who is now president of Business for Medicare for All and Medicare for All NOW!, in a statement to POLITICO.

Those Nasty LAUSD School Board Campaign Ads: What's Fact? What's Opinion?: LAist

Independent expenditure groups are spending at record-setting levels on next month's Los Angeles Unified School Board primary — which you could've probably guessed from all the ads filling your mailboxes.

And an unusual number of those mailers ask LAUSD voters to vote against a candidate, rather than for one.

So far this year, charter school proponents have spent more than $2 million on negative ads. For an LAUSD race, that number is insane. That's more negative advertising than was purchased in the last three election cycles featuring these same LAUSD board seats ($1.7 million) — and we're not even past the 2020 primary.

Exclusive: New ad campaign hits Pa. Rep.

The ads, which begin launching Thursday, are timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the 240-190 vote by the majority-Democrat House on the background checks bill. The bill remains mired in the majority-Republican U.S. Senate.

Eight of Pennsylvania’s nine Republican U.S. House members voted against the measure. U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-1st District , crossed over to vote with all nine of Pennsylvania’s Democratic House delegation.
