Macon couple opens Louvenia's Seafood Market restaurant | 13wmaz.com

MACON, Ga. — Michelle and Jason Walker say folks can now 'pull-up and get sauced-up' at the Louvenia's Seafood Market storefront in Macon.

The Walkers originally opened Louvenia's as a restaurant in Dublin in 2017. Then, they ditched that spot and turned it into a food truck that bears the same name.

And now, the Walkers are setting Louvenia's back down in Macon. They opened up the seafood eatery as a storefront at 5033 Brookhaven Rd in Macon.

Community Futures Executive Director, Allison Boulanger says the team is excited to offer the program again for 2020.

"We are so pleased with the improvements made by our local businesses on Marine Avenue last year. Business façade improvement programs often help businesses increase sales and improving the appearance of our business corridors one building at a time helps to make our community more attractive. We're looking forward to making this program available to more businesses in 2020," says Boulanger.

Let's Take This Conversation Offline - The New York Times

It's getting to the point where when I walk past all the abandoned storefronts strafing New York City, I begin to imagine all the other things they could be used for. Impromptu raves or hardcore shows. Floor-to-ceiling floral displays. Short-run theaters for one or two-person plays. Housing for the unhoused.

Forgive the mangled Jane Jacobs, but storefront shopping thrives when there is an active sense of civic engagement, and it is a crucial feeder of that energy. Without stores, you'll just stay home, scroll through memes, buy a toothbrush off Instagram, and lie about how happy you are that you don't get enough sunshine.
