SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -A local restaurant owner in downtown Savannah says his restaurant is a piece of unknown black history.
"A person of color was not supposed to ever own, the Buccaneer Club Restaurant ," says David Stepherson.

"We took an exclusive white business and brought it to a black business, but brought it to MLK, the corridor of black business," he says.
Before Stepherson became the owner, the restaurant was originally in McIntosh County in the late 1950s.

Allisa Harvey's Transition from Online Shop to Physical Storefront

Talk about going against the tides: 32-year-old Alissa Harvey has found success in opening a custom stationery business—and then moving it from online to a bricks and mortar shop, in Chappaqua.
It all started in 2007, when Harvey, then a real estate broker’s assistant, began selling her handmade cards to her coworkers as Christmas gifts. “They were so popular that I opened an online shop via etsy.com,” says Harvey, a Mahopac New York, native and an FIT alum. Eventually, her online business grew so much that Harvey built her own e-commerce site (mewpaperarts.com) and four years later, decided to give her online company a physical home.
CCP nursing students tackle the opioid crisis on the ground | KYW
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Nursing students at Community College of Philadelphia are facing the city's opioid crisis head-on, as an element of their studies.
The students are spending time at ground zero of Philadelphia's opioid crisis, as part of a six-week community rotation. CCP's Independence Foundation Chair in nursing, Laureen Tavolaro-Ryley, helped to establish the program a year ago.
"We wanted to, number one, make an impact in the community," she said, "and number two, really do the best we could to prepare the workforce of the next generation of nurses here in Philadelphia to address this need."
Street improvements bring new hope for troublesome building
Neighbors hope a longtime troublesome apartment building will become a more productive part of Hamilton’s Jefferson neighborhood, thanks partly to the South Hamilton Crossing project that improved Grand Boulevard.
The property’s new owner wants to return the building to its original use from years ago, storefronts facing Grand Boulevard, plus apartments, the Hamilton Planning Commission was told Thursday. Only this time, it will have only four apartments, and the storefronts will likely house an office and either a one- or two-person salon, or a small convenience store for the neighborhood.

Storefront Library / Abruzzo Bodziak Architects | ArchDaily

By extending the gallery's iconic rotating facade panels into bookshelves that pierce the public space of the sidewalk, Abruzzo Bodziak sets the stage for an exhibition shaped by public participation and dialogue. The shelves, constructed of painted MDF, contain a selection of iconic architecture books published over the past 35 years, as selected through Storefront's recent "Global Survey".

Abruzzo Bodziak also designed 5 uniquely shaped mirrored Book Props that serve as nontextual signifiers for chronology within the exhibition. Each Prop is made of acrylic and is displayed together with a book printed with a date on each page. By organizing the books on the shelves by time period, they serve to orient and guide the viewer.
