Needless to say, you should always do your homework when shopping for Apple gear. There might be a sale at, say, Amazon or Best Buy that would net you a new item for the same price or less than an Apple refurb. (The aforementioned HomePod is a perfect example.)

PROVO — The Provo City Council on Tuesday narrowly approved a much-debated new ordinance that will allow brewpubs, restaurants that brew their own beer on-site, to operate in certain sections of the city.
The vote split the seven-member council, with four members voting in favor and three against. Just before the vote, the council substituted an amended ordinance with a "sunrise" clause that will prevent it from taking effect until the city develops new licensing specific to brewpubs.

Changes in customer shopping habits and the increase in the number of 24-hour convenience stores offering items typically sold in supermarkets has prompted Giant Eagle to end around-the-clock operations at four stores, company officials said.
The stores in Monroeville, McIntyre Square in Ross, Shaler and the city of Washington will no longer be open between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., said Dick Roberts, a spokesman for the supermarket chain.
“We review shopping trends on an ongoing basis to ensure that we make our team members, products and services available during the times of the day that matter most to our customers,” Roberts said. “As Giant Eagle and other grocers have seen overnight customer traffic decrease in recent years, today the majority of our supermarkets operate during hours between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m.”

Walmart Expects to Save $60 Million Annually on Shopping Bags - Barron's
The world's largest company by revenue expects to save $60 million annually on plastic shopping bags, "just by changing our buying process and better utilizing our scale," Chief Financial Officer Brett Biggs said.
The remarks were made after the retail giant announced its fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday. The earnings announcement also fell on the same day as the company's investment community event.
Biggs also said the company is saving 15% on the cost of vests worn by sales staff, which are made with recyclable materials. Biggs said the vests are "more comfortable and more sustainable."
