I&M: Utility customers being targeted by COVID-19 swindlers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Indiana Michigan Power is warning customers that crooks are using the COVID-19 crisis to scam the public out of money.

On Monday, the company noted that such efforts have been reported across the United States, and that some scam calls have recently been reported to I&M.

• The caller claims the customer is late paying their bill, and their power will be disconnected if the customer does not pay immediately.

Gulf Power Co. customers could get break on bills in May

Hundreds of thousands of Northwest Florida residents and businesses could get a break on their electric bills in May, after Gulf Power Co. announced a plan Monday to pass along savings from lower-than-expected natural gas costs.

The Pensacola-based utility wants to make a change that would chop bills in May, as customers struggle with the novel coronavirus. Gulf made the announcement hours after a sister company, Florida Power & Light, unveiled a similar plan.

PG&E support for COVID-19 customers – Fort Bragg Advocate-News

UKIAH — The Pacific Gas and Electric Company is now offering additional support for customers experiencing hardships as a result of COVID-19. Some modifications to billing and service are now in place to ensure electricity and gas continue in spite of financial difficulties.

In addition, PG&E is suspending Medical Baseline removals. Customers in this program will not be required to re-certify through a doctor or other medical professional for up to one year.
