Mobile marketplace OfferUp secures $120M, agrees to buy rival Letgo
OfferUp – a Washington based leading online and mobile marketplace app has reportedly announced the raising of nearly US$120 million in a funding round led by OLX group and various others. According to the deal, OfferUp will purchase the classified business of Letgo with the OLX group securing a 40% stake in the newly combined firm.
Reportedly, the current investors of OfferUp- Warburg Pincus and Andreessen Horowitz were also a part of the investment round, bringing the total funds raised by the company till date to US$380 million.
Dallas Fed president calls policies relief, rather than stimulus - Marketplace
From emergency cuts to interest rates to providing capital for businesses , the Federal Reserve has taken numerous steps to curtail the economic fallout from COVID-19.
But even with various relief efforts from Congress and the central bank, many small businesses and consumers could take a while to recover, according to Robert Kaplan, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Kaplan spoke with “Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal about how the Fed is navigating the pandemic, and what the economy will look like when it’s over.
Remington continues construction on Mountain's Edge Marketplace | Las Vegas Review-Journal
Remington Nevada, a premier commercial land development company in the southwest valley, is entering the final phase of construction at its largest shopping center in Nevada, Mountain’s Edge Marketplace at the southwest corner of Buffalo Drive and Blue Diamond Road.
Construction of the 250,000-square-foot retail center began in late 2016, and the final phase is expected to conclude later this year. This phase will include finishing touches to landscape architecture, the completion of remaining junior anchor pads, the build-out of more inline retail shops and the completion of the new 20,000-square-foot Planet Fitness, plus several other new businesses such as Verizon Wireless and Planet Smoothie.

COVID-19 straining medical supply chain - Marketplace
Some countries, like China, haven't been able to produce what they normally would for the United States. Other places, like the European Union, have limited their exports in an attempt to hoard supplies for themselves.
"Interdependence fundamentally does mean vulnerability to shocks in the rest of the world," said Emily Blanchard, associate professor of economics at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. But, she said, there is a flip side. "It also means more resilience to shocks at home and in the rest of the world."

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -- The Ventura College Foundation Marketplace is closed until further notice.

"For our vendors, the Marketplace is a major source of revenue. It's a difficult time and our hearts go out to those who are affected.
The Marketplace draws about 2,000 visitors each weekend with 200 vendors on Saturday and 300 vendors on Sunday.
Vendors will be receiving a notice explaining how they can receive refunds if they have paid for booth space in advance. The public and vendors can keep updated on the Marketplace closure by going to the Ventura College Foundation's website .
Ballard Alliance launches online shopping marketplace to assist local businesses during Covid-19
SEATTLE, Wash. (March 26, 2020) — The Ballard Alliance, in collaboration with DEI Creative, today launched an online marketplace as a tool for its member businesses to generate revenue through online sales during the Coronavirus pandemic. The site is a collective of Ballard businesses selling items such as clothing and apparel to gift cards and merchandise from Ballard restaurants and breweries.

FBI Closes Russian Hacker Marketplace Fuelled By Crypto
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has shut down a Russia-based website that hosted online shops engaged in the sale of illegal goods and services and accepted crypto payments.

DEER.IO has been around since at least the end of 2013. At the time of seizure, it hosted more than 24,000 shops with total sales reaching about $17 million. The seizure order was issued by the Southern District of California Court.
Hackers have been a serious problem for the crypto community, and many of them have probably used stolen data sold on DEER.IO to get into the accounts of crypto exchange and wallet users. US Attorney Robert Brewer commented:
