Vacant storefronts have become a problem in some neighborhoods including North Beach and the Sunset.
Proposition D would begin imposing a tax in 2021 of $250 per linear feet of street frontage if a storefront is vacant for more than 182 days in a given tax year.

GREENFIELD, WI — The old Target storefront at 4777 S. 27th Street has been sold, and it likely means a new grocery store is on the way.
According to a Milwaukee BizTimes report , the Target corporation sold their vacant storefront to the owners of Festival Foods for $4 million.
Target closed in Greenfield roughly a year ago. Festival Foods has three stores in the Milwaukee Metro area, including Somers, Mount Pleasant and Hales Corners.
Grant money available in Bangor to spruce up storefronts
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Money is now available for some businesses in Bangor to dress up their store fronts.
Thanks to federal funding, businesses in the downtown area and beyond could be eligible to apply for up to $15,000 dollars.
