Still, Peralez said there’s been some progress, considering one of the biggest problems the city faces is absentee landlords who are difficult to track down.

Owners of Say Mercy!, a new Italian barbecue-themed restaurant in Vancouver, started offering affordable off-menu preorder meals for takeout on March 18, two days after closing because of the crisis. The meals, which include vegetable stew, barbecue Bolognese, as well as vegetarian and meat lasagnas, come in 500-millilitre containers and cost $5 to $10.

Andersonville’s Lost Larson Operates Take-Out Business Out Of Storefront Window, Until
ANDERSONVILLE — Despite the mandated closure of dining rooms and bars, Clark Street in Andersonville had a bit of foot traffic early this week.
That’s because Lost Larson, the bakery and cafe at 5318 N. Clark St., had turned its storefront windows into a to-go operation.
The unique practice worked well for Lost Larson, which sold out of baked goods on Tuesday. But the success of the venture was soured when a pair of thieves stole the employee tip jar from the storefront’s window.
