Can eCommerce Overcome COVID-19? | PYMNTS.com

While it is the only option for many retailers, eCommerce is running into its own limitations under the pressure of the COVID-19 crisis . And as those limits become evident, some strategies to navigate them are also coming to the fore.

The most concerning news about those limitations comes as retailers get a handle on how and why eCommerce orders have spiked since stores started closing at the end of February. Those estimates have varied , and have not delineated between essential and nonessential retail. Listrak has reported a 40 percent jump for eCommerce since the state of emergency was declared on March 12. The increase started in February, with online orders up 108 percent year over year, according to Quantum Metric .

Rocket Internet sells stake in Africa ecommerce firm Jumia

BERLIN (Reuters) - German tech investor Rocket Internet said on Thursday it had sold its stake in African ecommerce company Jumia, which has seen its shares steadily fall since they listed last April on Wall Street.

Rocket Internet, which had held an 11% stake in Jumia as of Nov. 8, sold its holding between then and the onset of the coronavirus crisis, Bettina Curtze, the firm's head of finance and investments, told journalists, declining to be more precise.

US ecommerce sales rise 25% since beginning of March

Online sales in the U.S. have increased 25% on average for daily sales March 13-15 compared with average daily sales March 1-11, according to Adobe Analytics. The growth is largely due to a boost in online grocery sales, which have increased 100% in daily online sales March 13-15 compared with average daily sales March 1-11.

Adobe Analytics data is based on online sales data from trillions of anonymous visits to retail sites and tens of millions of product SKUs from 80 of the top 100 retailers in the Digital Commerce 360 Top 1000. Data is based on 18 product categories including apparel, electronics, home, grocery, appliance, personal care, office supplies, books, jewelry, furniture and toys, among others.

Snapchat Stories Available To Developers; Ecommerce Surges 25% | AdExchanger

Snapchat is finally letting developers integrate its flagship Stories format outside the app. "The social media giant hopes that expanded access to its content and flagship features on other apps will increase its user base – and maybe its bottom line," Axios reports . That said, it's a baby step. The only four launch partners are Triller, Squad, Hily and Octi. The dating app Tinder and Houseparty, a video chat app, are also on the docket for Stories integrations.

Grocery now accounts for 8% of all ecommerce shopping, up from 6% three years ago. But people aren't just relying on delivery. Buy online, pick up in store orders soared 62% between Feb. 24 and March 21, Bloomberg reports .

New Enterprise Singapore initiative to help SMEs break into e-commerce market - CNA

SINGAPORE: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), who have little or no e-commerce experience, can start selling online through support from a new Enterprise Singapore initiative.

The E-Commerce Booster Package provides both cost and manpower support, Enterprise Singapore said in a news release on Thursday (Apr 2).

"This aims to help retailers change their business model, and diversify their sales channels and revenue streams beyond traditional brick-and-mortar. This is especially relevant amidst the current COVID-19 situation," the agency said.
