U.S. companies rely on Mexican manufacturers for goods ranging from automotive and aerospace parts, to avocados and other produce, to electronics and furniture. But the trucking system that transports these things across the border relies on an inefficient mix of paper, phone calls, faxes and too many stakeholders who drive up costs.
These snarls congesting border traffic are precisely why Nuvocargo founder and CEO Deepak Chhugani has raised a $5.3 million seed round for a managed marketplace for door to door freight transportation, serving trade routes between the United States and Mexico.

Accuride Corporation – a supplier of components to the North American and European commercial vehicle industries – today announced that its four North American wheel-production facilities have received the PACCAR 10 PPM Quality Award. Accuride's steel wheel plants in London, Ont., and Henderson, Ky., Accuride's aluminum wheel plant located in Erie, Pa., and Accuride's steel and aluminum wheel plant in Monterrey, Mexico, received the award for their performance in 2019.
The annual program recognizes suppliers who exceed PACCAR's "10 ppm" quality standard or the equivalent of 10 defective parts for every million components shipped to PACCAR. To qualify, suppliers must also meet demanding criteria for warranty support and continuous improvement.

Businesses are under extraordinary pressure to somehow still cover their operation costs and the money must come from somewhere.

British PPE supplies bolstered by volunteers with 3D printers - Marketplace
The TV, sofa and chairs had been removed, and a piano pushed to one side, to make way for 10 3D printers, all churning out the plastic headbands that hold the transparent visors in place.
Grilli, a technical designer with the Nissan car company, owns two of the printers. The other machines, costing around $250 apiece, were donated by friends. Crowdfunding has paid for the materials, and the Grilli family supplies the labor — around the clock.
Day laborers struggle as work dries up due to COVID-19 - Marketplace
Day laborers work a variety of jobs: construction, gardening, cleaning. It's already precarious work, with unstable wages that vary from day to day. But that kind of work has become scarce since the COVID-19 pandemic. Many days, there is no work at all. In response to the crisis, organizers at a local jobs center in Pasadena, California, are shifting their attention to help struggling households put food on the table.
