INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Eric Holcomb is creating a new marketplace for personal protective equipment (PPE) that will serve as an added resource for Indiana small businesses returning to work in the coming weeks.
On Friday, the governor said the Indiana Small Business PPE Marketplace, expected to launch this week, will ensure reliable access to PPE for small businesses and nonprofits lacking the resources needed to comply with safe workplace guidance during the reopening.

You spent hours compiling information and filling out forms to be considered for the Paycheck Protection Plan. You crossed your fingers every time the phone rang or the mail arrived. You met with your bank and your accountant and your employees and then you waited. And waited. And waited.
Communication is a key concern for everyone. Although the SBA site has a lot of information with the intention to help borrowers and lenders navigate the ins and outs of the funding program, it can be both confusing and overwhelming to sift through the information. For instance, the SBA's Frequently Asked Question page for the PPP reads almost like a law brief. Here is a sample of one of the questions as well as its answer.

GDP falls 4.8% — and it's only the beginning - Marketplace

We’re starting to get a picture of just how much damage the pandemic is doing to the economy. The Commerce Department reported Wednesday that gross domestic product — the total of all the goods and services this economy produces — fell 4.8% in the first quarter.
Household spending was down about 7.5%. Purchases of services fell more than 10%. And durable goods purchases — cars and appliances and stuff — dropped by more than 16%. Businesses weren’t buying either — equipment spending fell more than 15%. And this is only the beginning.
Vehicle sales crash in April, analysts say, dropping by half- Marketplace

It looks like vehicle sales sank to a record low in April . Figures from some of the automakers are due out later Friday, but analysts expect to see a drop of more than 50% compared to this time last year.
The sales figures could be worse than the previous low in January 2009, at the depths of the financial crisis. Analysts’ figures show that around 625,000 vehicles were sold in April.
But the over-50% drop-off isn't as bad as China saw at the height of its COVID-19 lockdown . Eric Lyman, chief industry analyst at TrueCar, said sales dropped 80% there.
