Google updates its analytics tools for newsrooms – TechCrunch

These efforts fall under the umbrella of the broader Google News Initiative , introduced in 2018 as a way for the search giant to fund quality journalism and find other ways to support the industry.

“We heard over and over again that our news partners were drowning in this data,” said Amy Adams Harding, director of analytics and revenue optimization for news and publishing at Google. “They had difficulty teasing out actionable intelligence in the tsunami of numbers.”

Google News Initiative Launches Slate Of Analytics Tools 06/25/2020

The Google News Initiative is building on its News Consumer Insights (NCI) and Realtime Content Insights (RCI) offering with a new suite of analytics tools aimed to help news organizations maximize the impact of available data. 
Launched today, the GNI’s new tools and updates include News tagging Guide (NTG), NCI 2.0 (NCI) and RCI 2.0.

Like NCI and RCI, NTG was built on top of Google Analytics. Through this tool, publishers are able to identify audience engagement metrics that allow them to measure, generate code for implementation and unlock new insights.

How Higher Ed Can Use Data Analytics to Boost Admissions | EdTech Magazine

Although colleges and universities have an abundance of student data, higher education is still struggling to translate demographic, social and educational information into actionable insights .

According to a report by the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research, 69 percent of post-secondary schools said analytics was a priority for "at least some departments, units or programs."
